Thursday's TeaDay 4/4/13 Add it UP!

by Chip » Apr 4th, '13, 11:27

Welcome to TeaDay, where you to come share your cup with us and participate in the discussion. All are welcome...newbies to oldies to TEA, we share a similar passion ... get away from the world with your cups of tea and see what everyone else is sipping.

Today's TeaPoll and subject of discussion may be worse than disclosing your age.

... so we have already seen 3 months of 2013 quickly fly by, how much do you estimate you will spend on TEA in 2013 (TEA ONLY, no accessories)?

Do the math!!!" So, get out your calculators and figure out your estimated tea expense for 2013. If you never did this before, just figure your weekly or monthly expense and multiply it out.

For some of you, this may be shocking. But we could have wasted our money on far worse things, besides, it tastes great, we love to brew it and it is good for you...hmmm, should be a deduction for medical expenses on our tax returns!!!

Of course, come prepared to discuss your estimated expense if you dare, but seriously, no judging one another here!!!!!!

Have fun on TeaDay today and Bottoms Up.

Quite a lot of tea. I'm jealous actually.

I have been trying to cut back on my tea spending, and use up what I have on hand. I am guess I will come in between 750-1000 USD so I went with 800-899.

mmm... I'm guessing 4 packets at 3.5ounces per month at +-20$ is around 960$ per year....but that might be low... then again that equals 13grams of tea per day which could be high, but then I like inviting friends over... but then it might be low, because after spending so much time elevating my palate here on teachat, I'll probably end up spending more per packet this year.

I figure less than $50/month, so I'm being optimistic and guessing in the $500-$600 range. It sounds like a lot to me, but last year's beer budget was higher, even before factoring in the late night burritos and costs of other bad decisions.

Then again, this week I've spent almost $100 on tea, but it's going to last me a long time, I swear!

I will probably buy about $100 worth of tea three times a year or so. I don't always buy Ultra Premium but I am always really happy and relaxed with my tea drinking. I will probably buy $100 of gyokuro alone this year :D

Having my graduation trip to Taiwan in May for 15days. Gonna tour Lishan/Ali shan + God knows where else. I fully expect a 'bloodbath'

This is a good exercise. Maybe I should lower my tea spending, but I probably won't

I'm cutting back tea expenses this year, so 1000-1299.

Enjoying Zencha Takumi this morning.

I hope to barter (through Teaswap) for most of my future acquisitions of tea, but shipping costs add up. This exercise forces me to realize that tea is a pleasure that will cost me of hundreds of dollars per year, not just a few dollars a month at the supermarket.

In my accounting software, i made a special category for tea which is linked to my transaction records.
Last years total was.... depressing.... >__>
Then again, that was including teaware!

Maybe I should make 2 categories...

Best not to think about it... I am rather into personal finance, and while I have while working been able to move my net worth in the right direction, it scares me to think of what it would be without some of my "luxurious habits" (yes tea and teaware are some of them).
