I believe this is a terrific forum for TeaLovers! Kudos to Adagio for maintaining this board and for giving us the freedom to discuss the teas we love. Additionally the mods of course do an excellent job and keep things run smoothly. Everyone is friendly and so knowledgeable, it is truly a great community. I'd love to see more interaction and more people posting!

My morning blend was first up this morning, now switching to some white tipped oolong.

Have a lovely day all!

I have been on at least 10 TeaForums over the last 2ish years. Most are either rubber stamps for the owner's Tea Company or completely overridden with spam and not maintained. Or have virtually no activity. I actively participate in 2 forums, the other being The Green Tea Forum which specializes in Japanese teas.

TeaChat is the best...the owner has a virtual hands off policy, although a few promotion threads are on the forum, the areas are clearly marked...promotional areas. But the vast majority of the forum is a free forum with only the minimalist of rules, yet maintained to keep out any annoying spam, etc.

Adagio even went so far as to allow the membership to nominate and elect Moderators, they did not appoint them. In what would seem to be a very risky move, I believe it was genius. On more than one occasion when Mary and I have looked to them for a "sign" on how to deal with a particular problem, they have simply stated "we trust you to do what is best." It is a truly unique forum and part of adagio's "transparency policy."

I consider it to be a huge honor and privilege to serve as her moderator.

Not only that, but TeaChat is an exciting place to be....

forkyfork wrote:2) Awesome mods. They do they do their job without being nazis. I'm on another community forum over on livejournal, where the mods will ban anyone at the drop of a hat "just because they can". It's pretty ridiculous.
I had to comment on this one...ironically, I was banned by one of those so called nazi mods on a forum run by Teanobi. I had posted 4 times, completely devoid of any statements promoting any vendor. I went to sign in the one day, and I was banned. I emailed 10 times simply asking why, no response. I called 5 times, having to leave VMs, no response.

I have no idea why I could be banned, unless they saw my activity here...I don't know. Life is full of little ironies though...

In my cup...attempt number 4 for this sencha Tokusen, I am getting better, but I should just come to grips that I am not going to love this one. But at 30 bucks per 100 grams, I am having a hard time doing that.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

In my opinion this is the best tea forum. We have such a large community of incredibly knowledgeable individuals. I feel the people here truly make this the best tea forum. Who cares what categories you have, what features you have, etc. if you dont have the people to make them worth while and interesting to look at daily and we certainly have that here!

*Today I have been drinking a premium sencha

drinking a puerh given to me by tea geek friend that is really great. However, it's a bit maddening, since she would only tell me 'I found it in a shoebox' and the only thing written on the bag was '2006 wild puerh'. So I have no idea what I'm drinking besides 1) it's a puerh, and 2) its damn good, and 3) she won't sell it, it's her private stash.

Oh to have amazing teas sitting around in shoeboxes unlabeled....

'Nuki, sometimes you've just gotta say to yourself, "Oh, what the h@#$ self, just try it!"

I took a pu ehr sample from a dude with rotten teeth who kept his Pu Ehr stash under the counter in a box. He knew how old it was, wouldn't tell me. He went to break it off and I realized he had just been out for a smoke, hadnt' washed his hands . . . LOL But it was awesome stuff, and I realized after trying some of his private stash that cooked pu ehr is great! I just have to find my own cake.

Olivierco: try steeping 10-15 slices of fresh ginger in boiling water. Sounds disgusting. It worked for me.
I have also been enjoying Houjicha most of the day.

I chose the last choice because I don't frequent any other tea message boards, newsgroups, etc. . . However this forum is well patrolled for spam, smut and crazy posters. I was making a purchase over the internet at work a few months ago and found porn links on a vendor's website comment section after every single product. I can't imagine having to patrol my employer's website for crap like that every day.

I would drink anything this particular tea geek handed me - she's the owner of Floating Leaves Tea and has a better memory for what teas I've tried in her shop and liked than I do. I was there once when someone came into the shop for just their second time and timidly said they couldn't remember what they had their first time but they liked it. She told them what that had drunk, where they sat, who they had been with and what they were wearing that day. It's some weird alien mental power or something. Nowdays I just show up there and ask her what I'd like. :D

Of course she can't remember where she got this great 2006 green wild puerh...

My last tea of the day was Adagio's Blueberry White. It was ehhh. I feel kinda grumpy and I'm thinking it is lack of a goodly amount of tea today. Or more specifically - a lack of good tea today. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Finished a pretty decent TeaDay with home pan fired Daily Sencha. I am going to try this with guricha.

The consensus seems to be that TeaChat rocks. :D
