A 90s ZhongCha yellow stamp 7571 sample from awoono is what I'm working on now, almost through the awoono samples. Thankfully this one finally has some Qi along with a walnutty bitterness (green power) that isn't unpleasant but is kinda weird in a shu.

What's Qi?

Occasionally I see references to Qi that sound either mystical or psychedelic. But I never could find a definition.

Laughter aside, I must say that TeaChat certainly caused me to try teas I had never even heard of a few months ago. Today was a stellar TeaDay for me. I had a lemony-citrusy tisane this morning, and I just had the treat of a lifetime, my first cup of sakura sencha from ItoEn. Very subtle flavor.

And I even put a sprig of cherry blossom in a tiny vase on my tray. And used my new kyuusu that you haven't seen yet (camera battery needs charging).

Thank you, Tenuki. I did not realize that Qi and Ch'i are the same thing. I am very much familiar with Ch'i.

Now that I have general point of reference, could you describe how you experienced Qi through your tea today?

Its been a Yunnan/Rishi tea day. I had a few cups of golden yunnan followed by a side by side comparison of Rishi's Moonlight White and White Peony.

I think I need to swing back over to Japan before the day is over.

Don't let it scare you off. TKY was literally the very first oolong I brewed ever and I just followed the package directions and YUM. You should try it - even though you can be really precise and detailed while brewing it, you don't have to be to make a good cup! :D

Oops - forgot to add: I've tried yunnan gold (which I like more the more I try), golden monkey and orange blossom oolong and I've bookmarked others to go back to. Shoot, TeaSweetie has about gotten me ready to give citron green another try. Maybe one day when I'm in the mood for Fruity Pebbles. :lol:

Actually, my impression from the IM and other interchanges is that most of us n00bs like young puerh more than old. It might be because good aged puerh is very very expensive, so we haven't tried that much. You may be weird, but not for that reason.

Friday saw my next to last cup of citron green before my sample disappears, lots of casablanca twist, and that revolution tropical green iced. And (drum roll, please) an order at Adagio which included a sample of TKY. :shock: Thanks to all for the encouragement!
