What? No Spam Matcha? No green tea and Spam?

Have a great time at the Expo and spread the word about TeaChat!

In my cup this morning, T Salon's genmaicha. I don't recommend it. The toasted rice is a bit flavorless and the tea leaves are very broken and bland. It's time to break out the sample of genmaimatcha that inspectoring sent me.

Morning all. Back from Louisiana and looks like I missed a lot. Lots of posts to catch up on.

So jealous about the tea expo! I wanna go!!! But since I can't, I demand lots and lots of pictures and details. NOW! :wink:

I vote for spamware, as I love viewing all the teaware porn!

Have a GREAT time at the expo!!! Don't gamble away any expensive tea!!! :lol: Chip, make sure to share what fabulous restaurants you go to as well!!

This morning, I brewed fukamushi sencha in my Den's kyusu. The aroma of the dry leaves is amazing!!! I really want to like this tea. I must be missing something here, because it just tastes too darn astringent and grass-like. These are the parameters another teachatter used with success that I used:

1st - 1 teaspoon, 4 ounces, 175 degrees, 45 seconds
2nd - 20-30 seconds
3rd - 1 minute

I voted for Spam chawan because I think that Spam makes a surprisingly good clay base, especially when fired at lower temperatures. Raku spawan!

TimeforTea, I am no expert by any means, but I have success with Fukamushi using lower leaf/water ratio and lower temp.

I use 4g, 8oz, 170°F, 45s, 30s, 45s, 1:15m, 3m, and get vegetal sweetness, nice viscosity and silkiness. Second steep is certainly more intense, and I sometimes reduce the time to 20sec. I'd say that for Fuka my 4g will be about a level teaspoon, no heap. HTH!

I like to start sencha on even cooler water, 160°, but I do a longer first infusion, so maybe it comes out about the same.

Yeah it will be interesting to see if some vendors will be trying to sell pu as vintage stuff to an uneducated consumer.

My gosh, has everyone forgotten the "spam" that used to show up on TeaChat on a daily basis. You guys have grown spoiled. :lol:

For our Swedish friend who missed all the spam and may not be familiar with the term...

From dictionary dot com: a disruptive, esp. commercial message posted on a computer network or sent as e-mail.

Spam posting came in all forms including the most vile spam porn which consisted of actual porn pics right on the forum. Fortunately, your Mod Squad (moderators) have pre emptively eliminated spam from the pages of TeaChat.

Thus the spam poll today in honor of adagio who is sending us to Vegas for the World Tea Expo. Just a frivolous and fun poll...

My understanding is the the World Tea Expo is a vendors only trade show, so the only consumers there to trick will be vendors themselves, who -- as we know -- are often as uneducated as anyone else on puerh. Congrats on getting invited, mods. I can't think of anyone more qualified to bring it back here and make it real for us. If not a podcast, maybe a thread? Photos, please, please, please!
