Drink less tea, less tea is better than cheaper tea.

I'd just restrict my tea consumption to fewer types of tea.
For example: O-cha's fukamushi supreme is only $22 per 100g so If I use 5g per day, I'm only spending $1.10 per day on tea.
Say I got 1 "McDonalds Sweet Tea" per day - I'd be spending (I think) $1 per day

So.... you choose McDonalds or O-Cha - they're the same price.

If each steep is reduced from 200 grams to 150, I would reduce cost by 25%. I already go 5 steeps for most teas, maybe an extra steep. Plus I am always searching for GOOD everyday teas costing around 10-15 bucks per 100 grams. So, I would likely hit that list more.

Fukamushi Maki, I went "too low" temp wise this am by accident, 156* but it turned out sweeter, a lot of the astringency I had experienced is gone. Thing is, I wanted the astringency kick this morning. But 160*, just 4 degrees hotter gives it that kick. Tea is amazing.

Great photos as always everyone.

Come on in and try the Kool Aid.

Everyone needs an inexpensive everyday tea that they like. It makes a special order you splurge on taste so much better.

I dont know Chip, I think a 150-gram steep is still quite a strong cup of tea....

I would start growing my own herbals more than I'm doing now and cut back on quality tea but not eliminate.
No tea yet. I had SATs this morning which was 'fun'. We got lost going to the testing center.

 True that...200 ml to 150 ml. Not even the Japanese go 150 grams. Not even Ipoddo.

Once again proving that I am metrically challanged. I need to check...how much does 150 ml of water weigh anyway?

Sencha rox!

i think i would just do what my uncle and many in asia do, just use the same leaves all day adding fresh water throughout. by the end you're just drinking tea water though...

today: houjicha. such a warm and filling tea.

I'd go for less tea but the same stuff that I'm drinking now. Not that all of it is expensive, but I'd get the stuff I love and drink less than settle for something that's just okay and drink the same amount.

Kukicha this morning. Ready to switch to something else. Thinking wuyi ensemble, but not sure.

I got a drastic haircut yesterday (about a foot off) so most of today has been spent surfing the net and running my fingers through my new do.

Well, thankfully tea is cheaper than wine. However, if funds were tight, I would drink less tea, as well as lower quality tea...so I chose "other".

First real tea today so late in the day-peach oolong.

Speaking of money, I held a yard sale today which was not fun in the sweltering heat. I had two bottles of...ahem...snapple white iced tea as well as a large glass of chilled jasmine #9 tea to start off the day.

150ml equals 150g, it is the brilliance of water having a density of 1.
Life is like a cup of tea, savor it slowly or it will be gone too fast

How is this? I've been hesitant to try the "flavored" oolongs.

Thought so. So thus my original statement was not as stupid as it sounded...just a little unconventional.

Thanx for saving me from having to look.

Following Olivierco's thought pattern...

Fukamushi Supreme...and loving it. 5 grams... 1.15 USD...5 steeps of 200 ml...1 liter at less than a quarter a steep.

So, tea is indeed very cheap relative to almost anything but tap water.

When in Vegas, a small (around 8 ounces) bottle of evian was $5.50. I just wanted water...but was not buying that. I would die in the desert first. Someone who happened to be up 800 bucks at the tables laughed and handed me one.

Need to start thinking about what tea is next.
