Wednesday TeaDay 10/01/08 Yixing anyone?

by Chip » Oct 1st, '08, 00:42

Welcome once again to TeaDay, my TeaFriends. I hope we can all share what is in our cups today, all day.

Yesterday's voting was a little surprising. Although Chinese tea was voted top favorite tea of the month, Japan was nipping at her heals. Taiwan and India were strong as well. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Do you own a Yixing pot? More than one, how many? Do you dedicate them to one type of tea? Don't have one, do you want one? Or why not?

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone today. Bottoms up ...

Why yes. I own five.

Currently drinking Oriental Beauty Oolong from Floating Leaves Tea. This has got to be one of the prettiest teas in my collection. I almost didn't want to brew it the leaves look so nice.

I'll leave the natural looking photographs to sal. I just gotta get all crazy with the blur.

I have two Yixing teapots which I seldom use now: I rarely drink Puer and I brew my oolongs in a gaiwan.

Think I have 4 and it's what I use 99% of the time. I have a porcelain pot that I use on Sundays for greens and Oolongs or whatever flavored stuff I have in the house, but the rest of the time I brew in a Yixing.

Iced Pu-erh this morning...not bad.

I own just one.

Iced Adagio blackberry tea right now. Just woke up. My sleep schedule is slowly sneaking up on "normal"... :)

7 yixing and one cheapo clay thing that's being used to store some bamboo roasted sheng until it calms down a little.

A window was smashed on my bus this morning and the next bus was too full for us all to get on, nightmare. It's ended up in me having to return home for a few hours to an empty, quiet house and being forced to drink some assam whilst eating cheese on toast with a garnish of chives. I'll catch up on the lecture another time.

Heading off for bus to university attempt number 2.

No yixing yet, wouldn't mind having one to experiment with in the future. ;)

Today drinking a lovely sakura green tea I got from a teashop when I went out of town over the weekend. One of my new favorites!

Nice photo, Trioxin!

I have too many "Yixing" that I purchased when I started drinking tea. Unfortunately, I don't use them these days, prefering lighter teas. And when I do brew a darker oolong, I reach for a gaiwan.

Adagio Keemun Concerto started the day. Now Kabusecha from O-Cha. This is good Kabusecha.

Hey, there's no option for "exactly 20"! I have none though.
I had bancha from ippodo with my breakfast this morning.

You can now buy 20 and answer the poll. It has been fixed.

One pot.
And I have a pair of IngenuiTEA style Yixing cups. They are no smaller than a pot, but since they are for single-person use only, I would call them cups anyway.
My Yixing pot is from many years ago. It was very inexpensive and durable. But its mouth drips a little bit. I like it and feel like it's an old friend. But I am also tempted to get a new beauty :P

Beautiful photos Trioxin!! The colors are just so captivating

I wished I did own a yixing. I'm just afraid to start buying one and end up having 10 more by the end of the month because they're so pretty.

Having matcha at the moment, after some wagashi for breakfast.
Tea tea tea... I like tea...
