Wednesday TeaDay 10/15/08 TeaChat TeaRoots?

by Chip » Oct 15th, '08, 00:35

Welcome everyone to TeaDay. I hope we can all share what is in our cups today, all day.

Yesterday, many TeaChatters revealed they were encouraged to try new teas, and they simply learned more about tea upon joining TeaChat

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic is about your TeaChat TeaRoots. What was your favorite type of tea when you first joined TeaChat? Did it change soon after you joined? Please share.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaRoots and TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Oolong and it did NOT change soon after joining!!

In fact I sought out TeaChat so I could discuss my love of oolongs,
that is what brought me here. But I did learn about high mountain
green oolongs here and found the one I truly love. So oolong,
oolong and still oolong.

Nothing for me tonight, it's too late. Too bad because I just opened the box
I got today of the oolong I love and now I must wait. <sigh>

Also got a new Nilgiri - more on that tomorrow!

Is that Lishan, Wenshan or Alishan, and details on your new oolong!!!

For me, I came in to TeaChat loving GREEN, and still do. Then it was Chinese green dominating my TeaMenu. However, I knew I would find the then elusive Japanese green that is so much more available today, the Kagoshima Yutaka Midori!
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Kind of a mix between Pu-erh and Darjeelings. The only real change is that Oolongs have been thrown into the mix.

Currently about to brew some random pu-erh from my samples box. Whatever I grab first.

I am still trying things out but so far I love the flavored black teas. Mainly the cinnamon being the key one. I still need to try out a lot of different teas to see which I really like as my favorite.

I would invest in a nice tea set but they would not last in my bachelor pad. Unless I hid them every Saturday when friends come over. It be like a white sock in red wine compared to the rest of my apartment...

Will post something on this in the right forum :P

I vote for black and it did change. Before I started my love affair with tea or joined teachat, black tea was all I ever knew. Now I rarely drink blacks. Oolongs are my new favorite.

Green (gyokuro and sencha) and it did NOT change! The main teachat related change is that I have started drinking matcha.

Yunnan golden tips this morning.

When I joined teachat I had been drinking bagged black tea all my life and cheap store bought green and Oolong for a few months. Through the forum I learnt alot very quickly and placed my first order with o-cha soon after joining. Since them Japanese green has remained my favourite but I have subsequently fallen in love with Chinese greens and blacks! This morning I have opened my 25g sample of Keemun Hao Ya A from teaspring and all I can say is wow! Have a great day everyone :D

Black tea was my gateway drug and I don't think I've gone back to it in a long time.

Black tea and it's still one of my favorites. Only Pu-erh has topped it now...
