Greetings, I have had A LOT of these stored in a box for a number of years. They are all in very good to new condition. Most have never been used and the others were only used for a very brief period. Super airtight double lidded.

They are all Forest green with a satin finish and golden trim. Double lidded, high quality, heavy gauge, Japanese canisters.

The ones I have used constantly for 10+ years (I am not selling these) still look brand new, a testament to their quality and durability.

Do you just pour your japanese green tea into these, or do you leave the tea in its original bag?

How do you tend to get your tea out of these canisters? Do you use a tea scoop/spoon or do you pour?

I have a couple crappier containers that are just too large for sencha. I'm looking for a container that would fit 100grams and not too much more.

For Japanese greens I will usually either place the bag in the tin ... or more likely I will do this ... http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 53#p149958 which works perfectly for 100 grams! The small green size above works for this purpose.

I use the same teaspoon I have used for 10 years, a longer handle silver iced tea spoon, but any scoop will work I guess. I like the teaspoon since it glides right through the leaf where many scoops will not so easlily.

Oooh, I love these types of canisters - and they're hard to find too.

A few questions: Are they dishwasher safe? Are the lids tight-fitting? Do you have any idea of how many ounces each size holds?

They are reallly nice, aren't they! I only ever saw them for a brief time from only one vendor. I think they cost too much when I bought them so they did not restock. My loss, your gain.

I would call them extremely airtight. When I remove the outer lid, it does not simply fall off, I can feel the vacuum as I pull. But still it is smooth. The inner lid is added insurance in Japanese fashion. They are as airtight as any canister I have ever used.

How much do they hold, that would depend on the tea. The small one will hold 100 grams or 4 ounces of most teas.

The larger one will hold significantly more if your pour the tea right into it, but I usually put the vendor bag right into the canister. So this way, it also holds around 4 ounces. Or up to 8 ounces if you pour the leaf into it.

I never washed them per se, they never needed it, even the ones I am not selling which I have used for years ... just an occasional wipe. So, I cannot answer the dishwasher safe question, sorry.

lol, didn't seem like that many at the time. I guess I was a bit obsessive about canisters from day one. But at least these were a good purchase compared to some other purchases.

I just received mine yesterday. These are some of the nicest tins I've come across, with an incredibly tight seal. It doesn't come across very clearly in the photos, but the satin finish is quite nice and heavy-duty feeling and probably is adding to the airtightness of the tin.
