STI Certification- necessary??

I am in the process of opening a teahouse in my city within the next few months. I am attending the World Tea Expo next week. I am curious to know from any other teahouse owners if they have completed the STI certification and if so if you found it a good use of precious start-up funds. I know that if I am going to do it, I need to complete the first two levels now, before my place opens.
