Newly acquired yunomi from Kashun.
I love how his pieces are so rustic looking. This yunomi has a very worn and pre-aged look to it even though it is brand new. It also has a very grainy texture with many cracks in it. Might be a leaker It feels really neat in the hands though.

His twin resides here! Yeah, the loquat Kashuns have a built in aging to them that belies their infancy. Yours is a great example of this. Beauty.tmorten wrote:Newly acquired yunomi from Kashun.

Thanks guys I'm currently soaking this bad boy so I can use it in the morning. Chip, that's cool to hear that you also have a similar Kashun piece. They really are beautiful.

My turn Vic! for my version of a new Nakahara Hagi cup
You cant tell by these pics I dont think but i found it pleasantly surprising that just like my Kashun Kyusu this cup had the same, or similar, diagonal "slashes" all around the sides of the cup in the clay walls. You have to feel it thru the wrinkled glaze! sweet!

I want to feel what that glaze is like in your hand as you drink.
But that brings up a very basic question: with a hagi like that, do you have to be as careful in limiting the teas you use in it as you do with the unglazed pots?

much more "solidly" glazed. Still I use them for Japanese Greens mostly..sometimes some really green Oolongs like Li Shan. Tonite you see the very little remnants of O-Cha Warashina

Wow, cool, congrats everyone on your lovely acquisitions.
Kashun is truly one on my faves tmorten and yours is a real beauty. Love the way our Kashun pieces feel in my hand, lots of texture.
Iannon, love your cup, and thanks for posting it with the remnants of your last evening's tea. Will have to check out his etsy!

I finally caved and bought a couple of the pink Hagi cups from the Cherry Blossom promotion at Artistic Nippon. They are sweet cups with nice thick drippy glaze. Actually much nicer than I expected:
The insides are really beautiful with a sweet crackle glaze pool in the bottoms:

Those are very pretty Victoria. It looks like you went on a shopping spree at artistic nippon.

Thank you for sharing your very different newbies, Iannon and Victoria!

Why are your pictures so much better than those of the vendors? Toru and Guang should hire you to photograph the teaware they sell.Victoria wrote:I finally caved and bought a couple of the pink Hagi cups from the Cherry Blossom promotion at Artistic Nippon. I almost bought a couple of pairs of these as gifts. If I'd judged them by your pics I would have. These are quite a deal for the price. I think too many vendors post low resolution pictures of their products then wonder why they don't sell.
