Wow, great Iron Wan Nenugal.
I'm so used to seeing other things that are Seigan - love that
Iron glaze.
And of course - foam in chadamari - music, just music.
:D

Thank you, cccp80 and Seeker :)
When I first saw pictures of this chawan I was wondering about the seemingly unusual style compared to other Seigan work I'd seen, but according to Hidehisa at magokorodo, it is one of his experiments from around 3 years ago.
I think the glaze is really beautiful, although it is a bit difficult to get good pictures of. It also changes a bit when it is wet, which makes it very interesting to look at while it is drying after use.
Also, most importantly, it is really nice to make matcha in. I actually find it better suited to my current whisking technique (or lack thereof) than the ido-shape of my other hagi chawan.

Beauties Seeker, Nenugal, and cccp!

Nenugal, I had seen the iron glaze chawan for a while. I would like to do an iron glaze Hagi SO at some point!

Seto Koumori Chawan
Image
Seto ware chawan with koumori (bat) motif. The kanji on the box specifies it was appraised by a tea master of the Omote-Senke school. It's estimated to be around eighty years old and derives from Japan's Aichi prefecture.
Image
Backside of chawan depicting bracket fungus of the genus Fomes, called "Reishi." The white brushstroke design is "hakeme", as stated in the KAO/appraisal.

That's gorgeous Taka!
Wow!
I've never purchased a vintage chawan - how is it? Does it have any aroma?
Would you be willing to share pics of the koudai (foot) and chadamari?
And of course I'd love to see a pic of this lovely bowl with matcha.
