Artist/creator Robert Fornell.
Two sides warming.
Gorgeous cup. Love the subtle warm color on the thick glaze.

Very nice T! Thanks for sharing your matcha session with us!
I'm inspired - think I'll go whip up some for myself.

Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)

Nice karatsu Tobias.

Perhaps chashaku are a little too subdued to draw much attention here, but in the world of Chado they are quite revered.

Here is one I picked up recently
Carved by Fukumoto Setsuo of daitokuji temple.

It's poetic name, or gomei, is sen shin. roughly meaning purified mind or purified/enlightened spirit.

That's fantastic!
Soooo cool.
Reminds me of...
There was a tea website and shop in San Francisco (no longer in existence) called White Crane - and he had a photo of a chashaku made of what looked like birch with the bark intact on the back side - it was incredibly beautiful. I've searched hi and low, but haven't been able to find one.
Back to yours - just fantastic. I love the casing!

They just make me wish I liked matcha, so I'd have an excuse to make or acquire some as lovely as yours...inspiring dreams of curly maple, olive, and set me pondering about the frequent dropped branches from the black walnut trees in my yard.....

I'm tremendously enjoying the Hatsu Enishi Shin Matcha by Marukyu-Koyamaen (丸久小山園 新抹茶 初縁). It's very smooth, soft and a bit sweet; no algae aroma which I dislike so much in some matcha's. Resistance is futile, absolutely superb
The pink-with-white-clouds chawan is a new one. I think I will name her 桜雪姫 (princess Sakura Yuki). I purchased Her recently in Paris.
I still haven't decided on a poetic name for my other dark blue chawan (suggestions are welcome ;-)

While in Paris I managed to purchase an incredibly beautiful kyusu made by Hokujo (Shimizu Genji); once I have a decent photo I'll post it on TeaChat.

Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)

by blairswhitaker » Jun 15th, '14, 08:01

Tonight's matchawan featured tsurube no mukashi in my kokan raku chawan. I had this for my practice tonight. On that note I finally have a kettle in my room so I don't even have to go down two floors to the student dormitory practice room/ keikoba. I am hoping that by not even having to leave my room to practice I will have no excuses not to get at least one temae a day outside of class.

With no further ado...

My practice space, I have it set up with one and a half mats.

Imagetsurube no mukashi from tsuen, Japan's oldest tea shop.

Imagethe leftovers, my that was tasty.

Imageready for heikan
