Few places on earth would a cracked (during firing? intentional?) chawan be loved ... but yeah, love that one.

Made me think of March 11, 2011 ...

Took a heck of a lot of photos, but still not completely happy with this one though it was the best. Way to dark with that window covered up, but a lot of very harsh sunlight with that curtain open.

Seeker hasn't been gracing us with his lovely photos lately, and sadly my Chawan while I love them are not nearly as photogenic.

todays matcha "taste of kyoto" reserve organic, a little bitter kick to this one though it could be that I have been spoiled to drinking tenkei tori every day. in a glazed and woodfired bowl.

Love your chawan and your pics Adam and blairs!
You inspired me to brave the frustration I've been experiencing with photography since my last camera became predictably malfunctional (sticky shutter - over a year ago now I think...sigh). That and being licensed now with a case load and business to manage - well I haven't had the time to work through my camera/photography slump/issues. :?
That aside, here are a couple of photos from today's morning matcha session from my back porch.

Nice setting you have there for your morning Matcha Seeker! Love that Cory Chawan. his pieces always seem to remind me of when I lived in Hawaii somehow

Thank you iannon and blairs!
Love that crazy glaze chawan - very photogenic!
Started to do a photo this morning but I was undone by frustration - white balancing very different results with this new canon (vs the old one). Haven't taught myself how to manually adjust wb - which might be the only way to get any kind of photo in my kitchen/daily matcha prep area anymore.
(sorry for the moaning - )

Hmmm...
so, uh, here's this morning's shot - I decided to transfer it to my computer and take a peak at it just to check myself.
It's not as bad as I originally thought - the colors are only a little off, but not too bad.
I also used iPhoto's enhance feature to make it pop a bit more (I usually don't like the results of that feature, but in this case I think it helps).
My apologies, but no matcha in the shot (my  got to me and the camera and tripod got shelved before I got to the emerald elixir).
So - here's a Robert Fornell aka Ronin Ceramurai chawan warming...

ps - this chawan is HUGE - if I'd taken the shot straight-on/profile, you would only see about 1" of the handle of the chasen above the rim - as it is I'm substantially above the chawan and zoomed in for the shot. Fortunately I'm not a small guy (I'm about 6'5" tall and 225#, so this chawan fits me  )

Okay, here's a matcha shot from this morning.
Groovin' on the Fornell black shino.
Matcha is Yuuki's Tenkei Hana...

Cheers!

great picks seeker I really love the Robert Fornell chawan and tenkei hana!
I love tenkei hana, though I nearly always prepare it as koicha.

Thank you blairs.
I love tenkei hana and always make it as usucha - :o  .
I have yet to master the art of koicha - perhaps I will attempt it again sometime soon - the whisking tecnique i imagine is very different tho.
Any advice?

Nice chawan! Reminds me of earth and stone.
I dont know of "taste of kyoto" matcha - how is it?
Can you share any flavor comments?
