Very cool read, once again makes me interested in seeing the process someday.
Here is a short video showing a bit of it:

Beautiful chawan! I love that 2nd photo in so many ways - the chawan at the center of the tree's concentric rings, the colors and textures (both photos), the fall leaves, the light and shadow, and finally how the matcha just resonates.

Here it is--my new Seigan Blue Hagiyaki chawan by Yamane Seigan:

The matcha is Hibiki-An's kuradashi matcha. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a decent side-on photo in that light. I'll try that again another time.

Thank you guys! I love photography and I love tea so that's a good good way to combine those two things. :D

I love photography too but I'm not sure I can quite reproduce something as beautiful. I'm not able to do a beautiful "foam" at the moment anyway ...

*Sigh* reading this thread makes me want Matcha, and a new Chawan. Might need to at least fix the first in a few weeks.

Pig Hog Nice Seigan Blue. Do you have a side shot, or did I miss it? I'm wondering what the profile of the bowl looks like straight on from the side. The different photos make it look both very cylindrical and very flared I couldn't quite reconcile its profile in my mind.

A picture I took earlier this year. A great old tenmoku chawan even though it isn't easy to prepare a good matcha with it.

Thanks; I'm really pleased with it.

I didn't but as chance would have it, I've just taken some new photos. This time with Hibiki-an's premium matcha:
