really glad to hear you appreciate them, I enjoy sharing these little moments from my day with people who might also enjoy seeing them...

on that note I posted a few new pics in the Japanese travel thread, some pics of toinseki, rikyu's Taian, and the copy of it at daitokuji.

Found a aka raku bowl today, no provenance or tomobako, but for 800¥ I couldn't pass it up.

Matcha: seiun by ippodo.

Rather sweet one for a production bowl. Potter caught the glaze with the fizz just right when it was pulled, nice subtle fire clouding, and the undulations of the kuchi are very nice.

Love the shot with the steam coming off the bowl.

I like the crazing in the glaze, and BTW seiun is the matcha I'm drinking today!

Wow! I was going through the pages again, and then this one struck me and i felt like i knew it. So i went back in my archive, and dug out the information related to the bowl i gave my father, and I think its from Choun (Notomi) as well. The koudai on your bowl instantly made me think they were from the same maker. Lovely piece you have (I'm kinda jealous of my dad!).

Got a box from Hawaii today, this is a piece that's going to be featured in a special Chaji, (fingers crossed, alongside something by John Baymore).

It's a nice grey shino over a tebineri formed very dark clay body that was fired in a saggar with indigo flowers. Great looking piece with some wonderful nesting and nice texture.

Took it for a test spin with a round of miyako-no- mukashi by Horaido for koicha, followed by seika-no-shiro by fukujuen for usucha.

I started my session off with some peach shaped okashi. These had some nice shiro-an miso inside.

After sweets it's time to get green.

Miyako-no-mikashi may be my favorite koicha in kyoto for the time being.

Imagethat was awesome!

Time for some higashi.

now on to some usucha
Some more powder

Doesn't that look tempting.

All gone.

Just a quickie on terminology for those that speak japanese.

What's the difference between 茶椀 and 茶盌 both terminology wise and physical differences?
