Glad you seem to take to it. its fun for me reading your replies, especially with the photo's! You'll at some point perhaps get as addicted to tea ware as the rest of ustheredbaron wrote:Seeker wrote:Thanks a lot, folks
I love it, and enjoy it every day. My whisking skills begin to improve as well, doesn't feel as awkward as at the beginning. Still much room for improvement though.
I have been looking for quite a while for a Chawan i like, and which doesn't break the wallet. I like the understated beauty of it, very simple and natural. And as you said, the contrast between the tea and the glazing is quite striking. Every time before drinking i just watch it a bit.

I'm on the hunt for something new. Seen a nice raku and shigaraki yaki. We'll see how bidding goes...

That point took place almost 25 years ago...
... with my first Yixing pot i got in Singapore, and soon after with my first Japanese tea sets, trips to China, living in Bangkok, and more Yixing pots, and antique porcelain cups, and then came the internet... and more Japanese pots, and yunomis...
Here two quick snashots, of my Chinese and my Japanese cabinets (many of the boxes on the Japanese shelve have tea ware inside, keeping it outside would just clutter the shelve...):

Ugh! I shouldn't have searched for him on ebay. . .JBaymore wrote:Kanzaki Shiho-san.Pig Hog wrote:Soon, although I can't really afford it, I might have to pick up a new chawan from one of the more prominent Japanese eBayers...
Time to go post in the 'Not my teaware but I wish it were' thread, I guess.

Nice tea ware collection RB - I wonder how many of us could 'open a tea shop', or have had friends/partners who joke with us about that.
Nice chawan there Shawn! Look forward to seeing it in use.

Kanzaki-san makes good work. Well respected and recognized in Japan and elsewhere. This is what this kind of work costs. He's not actuall all that expensive as upper end Japanese wares go.Jaymo wrote:Ugh! Oh, no question! I hope I didn't come off as complaining! As a musician and artist, I'm totally behind supporting artists and real craftsmen, especially creative ones, whenever possible. I simply meant that it is beautiful work that I personally can't afford. That said, I love the TeaChat forums because I've discovered several artists from whom I have plans to order ceramic work in the near future!JBaymore wrote:Kanzaki-san makes good work.
