For those who love tea bowls, check this exhibition out at Oxford Ceramics in the U.K.

Thank you for the post.Tead Off wrote:For those who love tea bowls, check this exhibition out at Oxford Ceramics in the U.K.
Those Ewen Henderson chasen eating bowls are quite nice and fairly priced.
Akiko Hirai's work is beautiful and quite mature.

Thanks TO - Lisa Hammond has some bowls I want!

I met her in Korea at the Mungyeong Tea Bowl Festival. She was exhibiting next to Phil Rodgers, another well known British potter.

Today is freshly opened matcha matsu no midori from maiko in igayaki.
I found this matcha to have a very rich aroma but is light and delicate in the mouth. Oishii desu, as they might say in Japan.

Here is one of my latest purchases. It's an Edo period Kuro Raku Chawan with a very nice small Kintsugi repair. On the pictures I just prepared a Koicha from Koyamaen.

Lovely piece, and lovely photograph. I really like the contrast of the koicha with the bowl.

The repair really adds to the glamour of the piece.

Very, very nice!
Kinda have to say, the Kintsugi repair reminds me a little of Harry Potter's scar. Makes me wonder if Voldemort attacked that bowl?!

Haha true! I'm surprised my girlfriend never noticed this!

I wasn't sure if this is a good chawan when I saw it the first time. But somehow I felt in love with its very well done gintsugi (silver) repair. Some areas were replaced using "alien" parts. It's a technique called Yobitsugi.
So after all I think it was a pretty good decision, wasn't it?

A beautiful Ao Karatsu chawan from the Momoyama / early Edo period. I think to know who sold you this beauty!
Ps. The gintsugi repair is plain or decorated with (silver and/or gold) flakes? Asking just for curiosity!
Regards.
