Question, I was wondering do folks keep the Matcha powder loose in the tins or transfer the baggy over to the tin?

Hmmm - interesting question. When you say "baggy" I wonder about plastic, and I wouldn't want to keep mine in plastic necessarily - tho none of mine come in plastic baggies, so I'm not sure how I'd respond. The matches I use come in sealed foil pouches that have to be cut open (with the exception of Wako which comes vacuum packed in a high quality tin - so once I've broken the seal, I leave that one in its tin).
For the foil pouches, after I've cut them, I fold them down two or three folds then clip them with a small metal clip, then keep them in the original tin. I like the Yuuki-cha tins because they have a plastic inner lid in addition to the tin lid.

addendum: these days I'm also keeping my open matcha tin (I only use one kind of matcha/one tin at a time until used up) in an airtight container (an Oxo pop-lid thingy). I used to vacuum seal my tins in FoodSaver containers, but I've found I don't need to. The Oxo containers are much easier, and gives me enough matcha-geek peace-of-mind.

Sorry Seeker, when I said baggy I did in fact mean foil pouch. I keep mine folded down and in the tin in my pic which has a plastic seal lid under the tin lid.

I was curious what folks did but you do pretty much what I thought folks would do.

Another question, how long does Matcha generally last being in a air tight container?

Hi Shawn,
a 20g tin lasts me (I'm guessing? - ) about 2-3 weeks making usucha every morning. And my matcha is fantastic the whole way thru.
With Wako I purchase a 100g tin (available and more economical) and (again guessing - ) maybe 2-3 months. Again - fantastic the whole way thru. I notice only a very slight shift the last 3rd of the way thru with the Wako, but still great.
Please note that my lasting times here are quite guessed as I've never tracked usage of any tin accurately by date.
Now off to make me some matcha and then head out to a puerh tasting!

Have a new Chawan on its way. Now the waiting game.
