Can anyone tell how this was made (half-hand made, slip cast, etc.)?

molded. if slip cast there will be a slip cast spot
Thanks Kyarazen,
Does that mean the entire pot was formed in a mold or was the body molded and spout and handle added by hand? Are you able to tell the age?

I've noticed a few pots with this kind of carving on the side, was this characteristic of a particular time?

Really interesting stuff on this forum btw. Hard to resist an urge to begin collecting.

Body, Lid, Spout are molded seperately and then put together.

in the 90s onwards there were many replicas of 70s styled pots.

Great website! Thanks for the link.

Looks exactly like the 4 pots listed there as from the 90s. So, 90s molded zi ni teapot it seems.

Here's two that I've acquired in an auction lot. I honestly don't really know anything about them so if anyone has any information please, please, please let me know. I've been searching and looking at yixing marks for hours on end to no avail. I believe the small one with the bamboo design is made of Jiang Po Ni Clay?

The second pot looks like modern duan ni. The first pot looks like fake duan ni (probably for display only).

Hi to all!
I have some Yixing teapots, but have a problem with identification of craftsman and cost. They was bought at 2006-2008 in Beijing. Most of them - from fair in the Beijing Accton International Art Center. I want to sell part of them now, but don't know nothing about them. I have catalog from that fair, written on chinese, prices of 2006-2008 at USD and detail photos. Can you help me, guys? (I'm from Ukraine, my english not well enough, sorry)

Clay seems to be medium/high fired hong ni
Size 130 ml
Age 1980s
Walls are medium
Pour is single hole, quick
Planning on pairing it with sheng pu. Still testing.

Just got this from a local tea shop. Unused. 1980s vintage seems correct in my limited experience. So far it has neutral impact on flavor and a nice rounding effect. Would appreciate info about name of style, translation of inscription, and any other background info!

Yeap, hongni. But that's all I know.

My experience is not that great with puerh. I tend to use this clay with various oolongs, namely Taiwan and dancong.

Have fun!

Hongni is good for sheng pu, as long as it doesn't have wet storage aromas!

Just got these two pots:

In Hanoi...modern Yixing. Not sure of the clay type.

And got this one from a private seller in the UK. I believe it may be dyed, but it is really well-crafted and doesn't have any off aromas.

If I drank more wulong then I would consider using the pot for that. So far it's paired well with most everything. Mid aged sheng seems to work well. It seems both neutral and rounding at the same time. I guess there's something to this older clay thing!

I like the shape of the first pot you posted jayinhk. Large lid! Is it perhaps di cao qing type clay?

I think it's hong pi long. Used it for Vietnamese pu erh maocha today--bitter stuff, but a very intense flavor. The pot seemed to bring out the aroma very well. It tastes like jasmine flowers, but deeper. A bit bitter, though, even at 85 C.

Hong pi long. I've heard that name, but don't really know what it is. Is it a more coarse type of hong ni?

Coarser, redder qing shui ni, I believe. A modern substitute for hongni.
