Thanks for the detailed advice
Waiting now to receive some high fired TGY and test it in that lu ni pot. I hope it performs well and will report in due time.

Re: Official/Different Yixing Show Off Topic!
I was the one that bought the pomelo shaped teapot (lu ni mei hua hu) I just received it in the mail today, haven't brewed in it yet but have scrubbed it down and boiled it for a good 30mins. One thing that I have to point out is that the photos of the pot on Jing tea shop is much lighter colour due to the lighting, when you see in in real life its actually quite a bit darker. But here's the weird thing about the pot that I've noticed so far, when you look at it from one point it seems really dark, but from a different angle it's much lightertingjunkie wrote:I actually don't have any experience with that type of lu ni, so I'm not sure. I almost pulled the trigger on that other similar pomelo shaped lu ni pot at Jing because I was interested in learning about the lighter colored type.bagua7 wrote: Do you reckon a lighter coloured lu ni would yield a decent brew of high-fired TGY as well?
I'll post some pics of it when I have some free time and brew with it.
What I have lined up for it:
-'supermarket grade-high fired' tieguanyin (what I drink daily, I do like my strong traditionally fired tieguanyin )
-dan cong
-Jing's Autumn Long Juan Tieguanyin 'A' (dark)
-Jing's Ying Xing Hong cha

So this is what you purchased:
Nice pot. Let us know who it performs.
That shape would also brew well high-roasted wuyi material.

Thanks for jumping on that grenade for me! I really didn't have the extra coin, so you did me a favor. Hope it turns out to be a nice pot (Jing's usually do). The shape and craftsmanship are quite lovely!tieguanyinfan wrote:I was the one that bought the pomelo shaped teapot (lu ni mei hua hu)

Re: Official/Different Yixing Show Off Topic!
Clay: Modern Hong Ni. Med/high fired.
Size: 120 ml
Age/Year: 2000's.
Walls: Thick
Pour: Smooth +/- 12 sec. Straight / No drips.
Tea Pairing: Traditional High Fired Anxi/Wuyi SX
Info: A remake from the original company of the highly collectable 祥興茶行 1970s Culture revolution Shuiping, now market value is around US$1200.
The modern one has a much thicker wall, better lid fit and with a better craftsmanship.

Lovely hong ni pot (the thick one). I guess you source your pots from HK, right?
Re: Official/Different Yixing Show Off Topic!
Second one looks almost real whilst first one obviously is not.
Xiang Xing Cha Xing SP has 2 versions. Thick letter and thin letter, thin letter is later version. They underwent 2-time firing so lid fit is accurate.
Thick letter version is as rare as Malaysia-exported Gao Quan Fa Cha Xing SP in 60's..both hit over 1000 usd

It's new, but I think it's "real" in the sense that the same shop commissioned it.chrl42 wrote:Second one looks almost real whilst first one obviously is not.

What do you mean? Do you mean Tim's 2nd pot and the link's pot are the same creature?wyardley wrote:It's new, but I think it's "real" in the sense that the same shop commissioned it.chrl42 wrote:Second one looks almost real whilst first one obviously is not.

No. The new ones.chrl42 wrote: What do you mean? Do you mean Tim's 2nd pot and the link's pot are the same creature?
Re: Official/Different Yixing Show Off Topic!
Indeed, to know new or not, more clear pictures are required. 2nd one obviously follows 6-cup looking, thin, small-sized lid, long-shaped ZGYX of CR. Plus the price to do laquer-fixing might cost more than new one then.wyardley wrote:No. The new ones.chrl42 wrote: What do you mean? Re: Official/Different Yixing Show Off Topic!
What I mean is, the first one is new, but it's not "fake"; it's a legitimate new production by the same shop (the post I linked to above talks about it in more detail). It doesn't have the same wording (one side just has 'please drink Chinese oolong tea' vs. the text about their famous teas), so there's no chance of someone confusing it for an older one.chrl42 wrote: Indeed, to know new or not, more clear pictures are required. 2nd one obviously follows 6-cup looking, thin, small-sized lid, long-shaped ZGYX of CR.

These three pics are of my 'little lequ pot' from Shouzhen which I purchased last year. Overall I really love it, it's so cute
Clay: Qing Shui Ni
Volume: 80ml/80cc
-it brews a traditional roasted tieguanyin really well, which is why it's dedicated for it
