Was having lunch and my colleague ordered a pot of tea. When the pot came I was a bit surprised, cause normally they don't provide such Yixing kind of teapot. Normally Porcelain teapots.

Thank you very much. I am quite fond of it. Here are photos of its sister pot. It is made from Duanni Ore and is 330cc.

Wow, still amazing...!

It's interesting, the duanni pot looks like it's "complete covered," but the other one, you can see it looks like the pot almost has a "skin" (with the spout and the handle peaking through). Any idea on why the different approaches for the two...?

He tries to make each one unique. I had a third, which was also different, but I sold it. I just could not afford to keep all three of them.

IPT wrote:Here is a new zisha teapot I just added to my collection. The photos do not come close to showing off its quality. It is made of exceptionally high-quality Zini ore. It was made by Shen Jiangni and holds 300cc. It is a varient of the classic ShuYin shape. It has has two dragons twisting in and out of it and their scales peek out on the lid and bottom of the pot. It really is a work of art. The clay is pretty high fired and is surprisingly thin. I purchased a pair, the other is made of Duanni ore, but I can only post three photos at a time, so I am only posting this one.
Very nice! I have a thing for dragons, and haven't seen this style before. Great find!

My latest find, an antique brass pot, which holds about six ounces. It's unusable in it's current state, but I called around and got some estimates for having it refurbished and lined inside (either tin, silver or gold were recommended). I don't care if it ruins the value, I love the detail and design. I just hope it doesn't stay too hot for the tea I brew in it (haven't decided which kind yet). Sorry about the quality of the picture. I'll post a new one when I get it back. Does anyone else have experience with brass pots?

A gift from a SG friend. Thank you if you are reading this :)

80s Factory #1 Teapot - quite a rough workmanship (in a good way back then). Can someone identify what clay is this? A lot of blink blink... Di Cao Qing?

*Colour a little off in the photo

中國宜興 (zhōng guó yí xīng) just means Yixing, China. It's probably the most common seal you'll see on Yixing teapots, and is one of the two seals used by (though not exclusively by) the old state-owned factories. So this seal by itself doesn't tell you much, though an expert might be able to tell something based on the shape (rectangular or square), the wear on the stamp, the exact style of writing, etc. In some cases, there are one or more other seals too, usually under the lid and / or under the handle, which may have the name of the maker, or a number (indicating either the factory of origin, the individual potter, or the size of the pot).

Thanks again!!

Di Cao Qing Teapot - Not too sure about who the maker was, but the carvings looks nice. About 200ml. Not sure will get it or not but a bit tempted.
