Lovely Tim.

I always take pics of my pots to document the changes. Even though I donĀ“t think mine pots will end up like yours
The important is on the documentation :D

Just noticed this descriptor. The only Italian wine region I like on a consistent basis!

Agreed on all counts. The sand is especially beautiful on that pot Tim. I imagine it rounds the tea quite well. Is it high fired and which teas do you pair it with?

As usual some amazing pots on full display in this thread.

Hey mob, how about your dancong pots? I haven't seen any posted yet.

I have two qing shui ni pots (80mL) which really shine in here and outperform a high quality chaozhou pot I now use to brew Taiwan high mountain oolongs. I think that particular Yixing clay is really suited to Phoenix Mountain oolongs. Do you agree or disagree?

Cheers.

I think real Phoenix tea is often too delicate for a Yixing pot. I'm 100% sure there are pots which could work great, but in my experience, a gaiwan is the safest and best bet. On top of that, real Phoenix tea is expensive. It would cost a lot just to go through the testing process of finding a great pot match for it.

I'd wager that a thin walled zhuni with a wider opening is the best bet though, but as we know, the pot chooses the tea.

You are 100% right...but sometimes you can fluke it. It happened to me with one pot, bought another one made with identical clay, same maker fang gu type of pot and not an issue. I won't try again knowing how expensive these teas are (the ones from JTS), I can't imagine buying the ones that sell for $1000USD/100g and testing them blindly in a random Yixing pot.

I haven't tried it myself but probably would work. Don't know why I haven't used one of my new zhu nis  Maybe I shouldn't smoke so much dope. (just kidding) :)

New pot from Jing Tea Shop, still testing. Any pairing suggestions?

- Huang Ni
- 150ml
- Modern
- Thick walled
- Around 8 seconds, no leaks, tight seal
- Young sheng
- I really like using this pot for powerful young sheng because it helps soften some of the bitterness or astringency if there is any.

Interesting, you don't need to go all the way to China to find pots like this

Those are not exactly attributes that are hard to find these days for a pot like this. I'm just saying it's not something that requires a trip to China, that's all.
