It is a steal at $15 with shipping. The shape is good and the size is practical. I would suggest that you don't give much weight to things like the name of maker, the "certificate" and whatever the document says. Just enjoy the pot as it is. A teapot is merely a vessel to drink tea with, it is a good teapot as long as it is used to brew tea.

Most of these "certificates" are genetic in nature, even a photograph of the "maker" holding the pot means very little too. Having the name stamped on the pot is a long way from actually making it, much less the "stories" about its origins.

Thanks for the reminder and you're absolutely right. I guess I'm a romantic who is interested in the story behind a beautiful crafted piece of clay. I like things that are created with attention and a pure heart. There are many things made just for function and that's fine.

For gongfu cha and even more so for chado utensils are as important as the selection of tea and the way it's presented in the created atmosphere. It's the Chan way of expressing the essence through all things, preparation, presentation, sharing and appreciation.

I believe a beautiful crafted pot with a story will help express and receive and at the same time things are just as they are. A pot is clay with a hole to hold tea and water.

A pair of "Please drink Chinese oolong tea" pots from Origintea (http://www.origintea.net/teaware/teapot ... ing-ying-2). Very dense dark hongni, about 90ml. Great lid fit, great pour.



I think these are going to be perfect Chaozhou Gongfu tea.

It's 70s Factory-1 Xishi or Lixing Shui Ping teapot. The size about 80ml.

It's one of Factory-1's 5-style Shuiping set, inspired by Qing-ROC Zhuni.

The clay is classic Factory-1 old Hongni, perhaps the genuine

I use it for Rougui, the guy's a killer for doing gong-fu

This is what I think ~ Not a recent production, I mean not produced in the last 3/5 years. High fired, characteristic that I deduced from ~ ¹the nice shine, despite the teapot has never been used; ²the numerous black dots inside and outside. Probably was used one mould and then slightly finished by hands. Loose lid fit, it drips a bit. It holds 70~80 ml, 84 grams.

70s used steel moulds, you should see some coarse texture in the lid, the clay is the most common 5~70s Factory-1 Hongni, which shrinks almost as Zhuni...given the fact lids shrink more than bodies when fired, loose fit of lid on 70s SPs are pretty common.

5~70s Shui Pings are *on* the list of SP collectors, more and more harder to find.

The book was published in Taiwan in 80s, 400rmb...not so hard to find..

It's been a must-have book for F1 collectors for years though

not difficult for the chinese to find (chinese speaking that is)

its just that these materials dont make it to the west early

many pot makers in yixing have a copy.. so that... hehehehe..

Most of those pots are from late-70s~early-80s. So-called '82-stuff'.

Clays used were Jiazi clay (heixingtu), Niangaotu etc But not much infos on Shui Ping teapots.

Earlier pages are before that. CR stuffs.
