Arrived today. The "magic" 50ml $10 teapot.
It is actually $18 +shipping now.
I almost laughed at the size. But using it now I am amazed. How does all this tea come out of this tiny pot?
It IS magic!

Mind to share where you bought it from? 50ml is good for 1 and only 1
What clay is it! Looks like it has good lid fit.

Zen8tea on ebay is my geusshttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Yixing-ZISHA-Teapot-Kong-Fu-Cha-Brown-50cc-/380344381169?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588e4aaef1
although purepuer.com sent me a similar one as a christmas present. unfortunately the ball on the lid was broken during shipping and had to be glued on so it is now just decoration.

Yes, zen8tea on ebay. I have no idea what kind of clay it is. I know more knowledgable people here aslo have this pot. Maybe someone will chime in. The lid fits pretty well. Pour stops when you cover the vent.
A cheap way to experiment with a tiny pot. No complaints.

The Zen8 pots are slip cast zini clay. Mine measure closer to 65ml than the advertized 50ml. I bought 3 back when they were at $10, but if I broke them all today, I'd replace them at $18 each without even having to think about it. Despite the fact they are slip cast, they are serious performers through and through. One is dedicated to 1985 8582 puerh (yes, they can handle teas of such high pedigree) and another is dedicated to high fire TGY. The thirds sits waiting as a testament to undiscovered potential.

I am envious! I was privileged last month to have a session with a 1980 8582. It was just after a 95 8582. Quite amazing! 8)

Hello !
Love your discussion and your photos ! saw zen8tea shop, seems to be really interesting to me !
I'm a beginner in Yixing, and don't know much..
But I already got a modest (I don't think it's really high quality but anyway not so sure after all) personal collection (13 teapots, 10 are yixing..)
here's one of mine that I particularly like (don't know what it's really worth though) :

Clay: Zisha ? don't know if it's low or high fired though
Size: 400 ml
Age/Year: Totally new
Walls: Medium I'd say
Pour: very smoothly, normal speed, not fast, but very steady
Source: Purchased on ebay
Tea Pairing: Black chinese tea. I'm balancing between dedicating it to yunnan gold or keemun... don't know yet
Info : the first two photos are from the seller, but color is lot more true than the last taken by my bad camera :(

PS : if you think it's cheap or not worth it, it's no big deal tell it, I'm not very sensitized and I like to hear different honest opinions 8)

The clay used to make your pots have been added with some sort of colouring oxides in order to give/enhance particular effects. No idea what are the exact colorants used, but if the user chrl42 chimes in he will provide you with more specific details.

Welcome to the forum anna. :D Take any advice given here with a grain or two of salt. Sometimes people like to make things up.

ok ! thanks for the advice tingjunkie, this one I won't take with salt at all then :)
bagua7, coloring oxides really ? it was said to be pure yixing clay for both, that's weird, I might have been lied to though :/

It is pretty cheap, going at ~$20, but I'm sure you knew that already. Colour doesn't seem too off to me. You probably wouldn't die from using it, no fear :)

oxides don't do anything but add color to the clay. They are usually not toxic. Why bagua7 said they are added to these pots is a question I would put to him. Maybe he has some information that others don't have.

If the pots make good tea, why worry about all this other stuff. At these prices, consider yourself lucky.

How could you guess these pots prices ?
I mean yes it's exactly in that range of price I bought them. I didn't give the price not to influence any judgments. But as far as I'm concerned, I'd be totally unable to say this one is valuable, this one less... so I'm asking, for my personal guidance, I mean, on what criteria can you tell a pot is of great value, another not ?
