Congratulations Alex on the new piece. Sorry to hear about your lost pieces though it's nice to have an excuse for new pieces.
Congratulations Chip on the new pieces. When I check out A.N. and peruse the recent additions to the kyusu lineup I often find myself wondering which of the "sold" pieces Chip bought. I too lingered on the new Hokujo mogake piece on Artistic Nippon, as well as a few others that were recently added; I have been waiting for the perfect resonance/alignment with a fated Hokujo piece. I really appreciate the smooth earthiness of his pieces and the clean but warm lines of his clay. With preparations to leave for Taiwan for six weeks, wisdom has me keeping my money in my pocket for now. Well...kind of that is : I did just pick up a beautiful little vintage/antique kyusu from a local Japanese woman that runs a small Japanese antique store here...but then again the price was very right.
Beautiful pieces!
Blessings!
Re: Ode to the Kyusu
My first kyusu! Legit? Came with a dollhouse teapot set. The other teapot was obviously a dollhouse teapot. But I guess so was this. $10.00 purchase. Approximately 40ml. Very awesome proportions/balance. Don't know anything Japanese, but this thing really stands out for its size. Any advice/comments would be great. What would you brew in this little thing? Is the red clay similar to hongni? Thanks!

It was a nice surprise. I suppose I owe a photo of it next to a quarter or something for size comparison?debunix wrote:It's got surprisingly 'normal' proportions for such a teeny pot. Adorable.

That kyusu is amazing helio. How does she/he brew? If you didnt let us know it was 40ml I would have thought it was a large pot from the way it looks!
Re: Ode to the Kyusu
Just picked up this kyusu on the cheap! Its 120ml and they claim its Tokoname but I dont have any idea if it is or not. Im not very knowledgeable in kyusu's... yet

Ode to the Kyusu
Looks like a quite useful pot. What counts is not if it's genuine, but does it brew well and make you happy to look at it?
