Likewise, a nice texture will often seal the deal for me as well.

Enjoy!

I had a really nice Namamigaki piece a while back but sold it to a friend as I just found it too perfect. It was lovely but its the rough with the order that gets me in the heart. 8)

I just ordered this pot by Seiho. It reminds me of my chagama, especially with the different color lid :) i can't wait to use it.

I wouldn't call that a kyusu, but I do call it lovely. The flower on the inner surface of the lid is a particularly nice touch.

I went with the wikipedia excerpt about kyusu^^
wiki wrote:The common misconception is that a kyusu always has a side handle. However, the word "kyusu" merely means "teapot", even though in common usage kyusu usually does refer to a teapot with a side handle.
If its not the right place I'm sorry but i like it so much, don't want to delete it :)

Yes, kyusu means teapot. So, this is generally a topic on Japanese teapots.

Picked this kyusu up today, and used my new (not really new, bought it from a buddy:), iPhun but i had to edit the photo several times to make it lighter, so keep in mind; total smart-phone-idiot here. Tried to put it off for a looong time 8)

Love it so far, only thing i loved less were the import duties. How do those border inspection departments even get funding, its insane. Anyway here it is:)

Thanks Blair:) I love the futaoki as well, small but so cute and useful when i'm making tea. I used the kyusu for the first time the day before yesterday, and its lovely to handle. Very light, even when filled to the rim, and a great pour (even without the plastic spout part, that was on it when i picked it up). :)

Yeah, the tubing is mainly for protection until you receive it. I did a topic on this a while ago. Have to look it up.

Nice kyusu and set up. Enjoy!

Thanks for the comments (including advise), over here i remember seeing these kinds of tubings on the ends of tea pot spouts when a pot doesn't pour very nicely, this was when i was very young though, so take it with a trunk of salt:)

There are molded silicone end spout attachments for some lower-end mass-produced kyusu. I have two such kyusu and the silicone even color matches to the clay.

Clearly these are intended to be left on for improving the pour and perhaps protection.
