I have two Japanese friends here in the US who do not know each other and both of them have similar pots. Functional, not artsy, and used to brew mostly bancha, sometimes sencha, but whatever tea is desired.

Just realized I needed to stop in here and change my vote, since I'm temporarily up to 4 kyusu, thanks to my Petr Novak pot....

When I find a proper home for one of the spares, I'll go back to 2 in use, 1 spare in case of breakage.

It is an amazing piece, and again Hagi Yaki, (little of my Japanese teaware is not hagi Yaki.)

This thread inspired me to finally go out and buy one of my own. I just ordered it, so I won't be able to post any pics for a week or so. But in the meantime, I thought I'd share the site. It has some very beautiful Kyusu and Hohin!

Believe me, it was painful, but this one just sucked me in. Damn them and their excellent pictures!!

sweeet! I love that pot you have on the way..and no..i dont think thats a typo on the Chawan..;p

Well, it is not unusual for a one off ceremonial chawan to sell for thousands. Some artisans can sell at this level, I guess Noutomi is one who can.

Chawans can get insanely expensive. Check out hibiki-an's selection of chawans, for example!

Those chawans follow my expectations more... at least, in that they are 'named' and seem very distinctive from one another. The Noutomi one seems a bit... normal in comparison. Maybe that's why it's "only"

Wow, that's just mind boggling! While I love the Noutomi one, I don't see myself spending that much on one any time soon. And the others.... I'll have to be satisfied with just admiring from a distance...

here are my 2 newest kyusus:

the left one is a hiroshi mizuno and the right one is made from gyokko.
love them both! :)
