I drink far more tea than alcohol, but I do like drinking sake, beer, or plum wine with sushi if I eat at home. I've recently found a good in-state source for cold sake which I usually drink from those flat sakazuki, although I guess you can drink any sake from any style sake cup.

I purchased a pair of Hagi guinomi by Seigan earlier this year and agree that using them for sake may permanently lock them into that function. I use them for tea instead.

Very interesting comparison of clays, can we see more of the koudai for comparison. The black clay is not like any I have seen before ...

I am looking for Korean sets with the celadon and cranes. Have not seen this cup, where did you get it? Hankook has a handleless version.

Thanks Britt, our paths seem to be crossing a lot lately.

I have someone looking for a Korean set like this which would include a kyusu, cooler, and cups, and maybe a display cup whatchamiccallit. I saw one one time. I would prefer new ... but beggars can't be choosers.

Oops, I see they have a set, but not quite what I had seen and really liked previously. Still it could grow on me ...

I went to the Shoji showcase at the Japanese Garden yesterday. Gorgeous ceramics. I waited for this show all year because one of my favorite artists has wares in the show.

Teaser (until I can get a "proper" shot):

I also picked up a beautiful shino and ash woodfired chawan. Its shape is altered so that it's almost heart-shaped. Beautiful, each side is so different, you can't get a feel for the bowl from a single image, but I will try. :) (later)
