I'm doing this experiment tonight.

I have only used my white ru kiln twice and it looks brand new, I will try soaking it with ripe puerh overnight and see whether I can express the crack. Get back if success...

Soaking it won't really help. The best way to speed it up is to fill it with heavily brewed Shupu Tea and pour it out. Let the cup dry and repeat. Getting it wet and drying it out will do it quickly.

If you soak it, or let it dry out, the crackles will seem stained, but once you put hot tea in it, the darkening will disappear.

People ask me to help them darken their ru kiln ware, so I've done it quite a bit.

Mine was like that after about 2 weeks.

What I did was drink tea from it all day everyday. Mostly green oolongs and didnt wash it till the end of the day. So about 10 refills a day and no washing till just before bed.

Its beautiful. I love staring into it. Some of the crazing runs from one side of the cup to the other in a huge sweeping S.

And yeah IPT is bang on the money. Its the repeated tea and then dry cycle that gets it going. You could probably get it like mine in a matter of days if you tried. I think mines reached its max but maybe I'll take another picture in a months time and we'll see.

Wow, that's come along extremely well and very quickly; great piece of teaware!

Of course, the best way to stain it is to just use it. I get a sense of pride from mine because I know I did it cup by cup.

+1

Thus the cup's history/life is right there, many tea times, teas enjoyed, experienced. The cup ages naturally, much like a Hagi.

Yeah I didnt try to stain mine. That's just how I treat all my cups. I agree the natural course is nice. I thought about cultivating it on the out side but I'm just going to leave it to "if it happens it happens"

There's nothing going on at the moment on the outside but maybe over the years a little will creep down the rim.

Guess there is no shortcut...

I kept repeating the process of rinsing my Celadon with hot ripe puerh and let it dry, the end result is not big difference only slight darkening. Crack marks are still faint.

It knows....its resisting....only when you truly let go and use it daily will it give in to the staining.

Dong Dao Ru Kiln Lucky Pot (Sky Green)

According to the seller, this is Tiger (Chinese Zodiac) year Teapot. Limited to 2,000 units only.

Size about 140ml / 5oz. Surprisingly, the water flow out is smooth. Cover is fit on nicely. I tried positioning the pot about 100 degrees and the cover still didn't show sign of falling off. When pressed on the hole on the cover, the water will stop flowing.
