hi folks,
i found 2 different mills or grinder for making your own matcha.
the first one is a cheap grinder for only 55 USD from kyocera and the second one is an expensive mill from samovarlife for 290 USD.

has anyone ever tried one of these mills and what are your experiences?
maybe i'm going to try the cheap one..

I am just a little curious about your motivation to buy one ... except the stone one is of course very cool.
Do you plan on buying tencha and making matcha versus buying matcha?

Ohhhh, now that is interesting. I would have zero interest in making my own matcha as I am certain I can get much better matcha than I could create.sebpassion wrote:i'm interesting in experementing with it.Chip wrote:I am just a little curious about your motivation to buy one ... except the stone one is of course very cool.![]()

But creating interesting powdered sencha ... and maybe even blending, that is interesting indeed.
Re: matcha mill for homeuse
i'm sure you would get a fine powder with the expensive mill.
but you have to rotate the mill for a long time to get it very fine.
is anybody able to read japanese?
if so, please tell me some interesting facts about the grinder from kyocera:

Re: matcha mill for homeuse
If I got it right:
You can get 100% of the healthy properties of the tea with the grinder, compared to 30% when you brew it.
You can set the grinder to get different granularity.
They don't seem to claim it possible to make real matcha with this grinder.
