Popping its lid slightly is not a big deal, but if the lid really doesn't fit at all I'll be losing excessive heat from the gap, plus having a messier pour from leaking at the top.
I also picked up this little gaiwan at the same time:

and it too turns out to be highly functional--has a nice fit between the cup and saucer that minimizes finger scorching. I won't be using it everyday--too small for a lot of stuff--but it will be nice to play with from time to time.

Re: NEWEST CHAPTER! Show Off Your Pots and Cups XVI
I was pleasantly surprised by not only the level of detail, but how reminiscent it is, on a miniature scale, of one of my favorite artists, Chao Shao-an.

Yeah I was showing that to Brandon. In regards to it looking just like the small gaiwan teagallery offers. Very nice

Yes, it has a nearly identical profile. Although it was described as having a smaller volume than the TeaGallery undecorated version, to me it looks like the same thing, plus decoration.

Wow, I love the delicacy of the brushstrokes on that cup--is it hand-painted, or just a very well-done factory piece?debunix wrote:I also picked up this little gaiwan at the same time:

Stepping up the teaware display, and it has room to expand!

Oo, nice! Are those modular shelves?AdamMY wrote:Stepping up the teaware display, and it has room to expand!
I'd be so tempted to do something like that for myself, if I weren't sure what kind of havoc the cats would wreak on my teaware ....

I am not sure what to call these but they were square cube shelving units that came in cubes of 4x2, and I think there was another set that I did not get that came in a square of 3 cubes on each side.hopeofdawn wrote:Oo, nice! All I know is this gives me a heck of a lot of room for my teaware, and it looks pretty spiffy too.

It does indeed look spiffy! Nice collection of tea ware.
Re: NEWEST CHAPTER! Show Off Your Pots and Cups XVI
I bought a very nice teapot and matching two tea cups which I'm pretty sure are Japanese although there is no signature or anything on it, for an amazing € 3,00 in the charity shop today!!
They're very nice to look at, with a beautiful light blue greenish glaze...pictures will be forthcoming. I'm so happy that I can finally contribute to this thread!

I've recently got a thank-you card with the exact picture as you have on that poster. Do you (or anyone else here) know more about that drawing?AdamMY wrote:Stepping up the teaware display, and it has room to expand!
