New stuff from Greenwood Studios....

and so is the fiery inner glaze

They feel nice in my hands, and the gaiwan works smoothly. They were well packed enough to survive the mailman actually tossing the package over my porch railing (I saw him coming and was going to take it from him, but he tossed it first). Sturdy, pretty, and functional.

Beautiful set-ups exmechanistic and Rabbit! Beautiful Shawn pieces debunix!

Greentam, those are Hagi Ippaku-wan-s from Noutomi Susumu, a favorite Hagi artisan! Usually use them for sencha when the temps warm up.

Yes. The little "fingers" on the rim of the cups seem to dictate a particular position for holding as I drink, which is quite comfortable.

Jayaratna, very nice Bizen kyusu. Think I saw that one on ebay? If it is the one I saw, it was also a very good price.

... moving further to the right ... more artisan level Tokoname kyusu-s and more washi style canisters, and part of a "vintage" Arita momiji set ...

If you look to the left on my previous photo ... almost out of view, you will see the more production kyusu-s ... mostly from before TC days when finding any kyusu was a good day.

The bottom shelf is where open Japanese greens hang out, waiting for their turn.

Again, sorry for the lack of clarity, limited camera ability, not to mention mine.

Jayaratna : superb kyusu. Bizen kyusu is really something I'd like to have one day. Are you happy with its effect on tea ?

Chip : how many right and left are there to come ??

Are you talking about a specific eBay shop or just a general search on eBay ?

The gaiwan is lovely. The lid could slip a little more smoothly against the rim of the cup, perhaps, but I think that's the only thing I could wish to change. The size is perfect, just right for my lovely small cups, small enough that I can drink the entire infusion before it starts to cool down and change unpleasantly--important for some of the teas I drink. It is a nice weight that feels good in my hand and protects from the excessive heat inside.

Now enjoying some shui xian from hou de in it.
