Yeah, I believe from the description it's the wood ash. Ippuku uses a lot of salt and ash on her pieces which makes them look very earthy. There's usually only a little bit of glaze on her pieces (I believe the shino glaze on your piece is on the inside, and the wood ash mixed in during the firing).odarwin wrote:i just notice that the inside of the bowl is yellow colored and has a rough texture. i was wondering if it is a form of glaze or something since i dont really know a lot about pottery. im not sure if there would be much to say just by looking at the poor pictures i have posted on what the yellow stuff is.

Hey thanks! That red shino cup on the right got a nice firing. It's the exact same glaze on the left but thicker, so it looks more like nezumi shino.
