Hi Everyone,
TBH I'm rather embarrassed to share the photo of my Favorite Teapot cause I'm fairly certain it's not in anyway special except to me Looking at all of the things you guys have posted is leaving me feeling a tad inadequate! But it is my first teapot and it's what got me interested in tea ware so I do love it.
And as with anything I suppose you need to start from somewhere, just as with forums you gotta put yourself out there even if it means people are going "what the heck was he thinking?"
So I was walking around Chinatown in Singapore a few years back when I stumbled upon this tea shop-house(which sadly has closed). I wandered in only because I was trying to kill some time but then this pot caught my eye. I was so drawn to it. It looked so modern and I really liked the thought that something so sleek could be used to produce something so traditional. I probably spent more that what it's really worth too but it was with in my budget and I got to walk a way with a souvenir... 2 in fact, I got one more embellished with goldfish that reminded me of my grandmother's teapot (from the 1920's) which unfortunately was lost in a fire.
Anyway, before I start yammering on about my whole life story Here it is. I'm sure it really isn't Purple Clay, it doesn't matter who made it, I only know it brews a good cup of tea and it's pretty in my eyes.

I picked up this chawan at the post office today, an anagama fired chawan (quite large) by Joe Bruhin (via etsy).
I'm especially loving the koudai!

Interesting--looks like it was fired upside down by the direction of the dripsicles. And it reminds me of ash-glazed Shigaraki ware. Neat piece.Fuut wrote:an anagama fired chawan (quite large) by Joe Bruhin
This one looks ready for the Jetsons. Very sleek and futuristic.Se7en8ight wrote:it brews a good cup of tea and it's pretty in my eyes.

Shyrabbit's cups are so beautiful to look at that I'm sometimes surprised at how good they feel to hold and drink tea from.

I decided to fool around today so went about, cutting things, collecting things, to try and set up a tea table for myself. I washed some rocks. Some dead leaves. Collected some duckweed. And I utilized all of my pots so that I could admire them. LOL!
(It was fun. Please forgive my indulgence.)

NEWEST CHAPTER! Show Off Your Pots and Cups XVII
What is the vessel surrounded by duckweed used for?
(Looks like fun, BTW)

I forgot to talk about my stuff. The cat is from my well-meaning tea-illiterate husband. It's sadly enameled on the inside but I forgive him (has anyone ever tried removing the enamel?). The duckweed lid stand just happened. It's a dish stacked on top of a cup with another upturned cup on top, filled with discard water. I have three fishtanks in the vicinity of the table so it was literally no stretch.

I joined the group on FB, lol, but my teacher is the Mei-an one. The silk movement? no, not yet. I'm still too novice. Give me a few more years. (Do you play too?)kyarazen wrote: nice qin too. are you part of the ny qin society.. or any chance part of the silk movement?

Woohoo, i got myself a package today at work, and this one totally blew my expectations:) Its much more lovely than the photo's make it out to be.
The iron spots have a kind of blueish glow when you have it in your hands, although that doesn't show in the photo's.

That is going to be simply gorgeous contrasted to the green of matcha. Fantastic.
