My first "String Box" piece.. A T Suzuki Feldspar Glaze Yunomi.
Image
I can see why the string box is desirable for nice pieces over the "Regular" boxes..nicer wood..much more detailed construction. just very nice comparatively.
Image
didnt get the color captured very well..its almost like a buff gold color. nice crazing in the glaze. And i really like the contrast of smooth shiny glaze on the top vs. the bare rough clay body below.

Hi iannon, thanks, nice Suzuki Feldspar Glaze Yunomi too.

The houhin is perfect, I use it a lot. The only bad thing is what happens with all houhins, if you brew a tea that requiere high temperature it´s very hot when pour the tea, but can withstand

I was digging through the vault for some old puer I knew I had stashed away and found this tea tin. I believe it dates back to the 80s. It was black with oil and soot when I found it, so it was protected from the very hig humidity we have in Guilin and is in pretty good shape. I know how much you like crane's and tea tins Chip, so I had to post photos for you.

My son just found this at a flea market for me, I'm so excited. I don't have it yet, but I'm wondering if anyone can translate the box for me?

I'll post better pics of it when I get it!

I have recently found myself missing trees and flowers from the US, in particular birch and maple trees. I found this artisan http://www.etsy.com/shop/EarthElements on Etsy and fell in love with her pieces. I asked if she could make me birch teacups with a maple leaf saucer and this is what she made. They are truly incredible! My photos do not even come close to showing how realistic they look. They also feel like real birch bark. They feel like a bit of home and I treasure them.

I was utterly bemused until I scrolled down and saw the saucer

But I Love those cups :D

Did you get her Birch Bark Toothpick Holder to keep your Cha Dao Tools in when using the cups?

I wish I could tell you, but the writing on the box is pretty minimal, even for the curvise style....

IPT -- I said it in TeaDay, but I'll say it again here, that cup and saucer are a gorgeous set. Very evocative!

Drax, thank you. The saucer is so much cooler than the photos make it appear. It looks kind of weird in the photos.

Thanks, Drax!

And IPT, those are absolutely adorable! Reminds me of summer mornings at the lake, listening to the bullfrogs, and smelling the scent of the woods on the water...

They remind me of crunching through the frozen snow in the dead of winter with the crisp frigid air and snow covering everything. They really bring back a lot of memories. I wonder if I could grow birch trees in Guilin? Would that not be lovely?
