Hi

This is a Majolica Cauliflower Teapot, circa 1880.

Majolica has a great many fantasticly shaped and colorful teapots of this era. This has a lead based glaze, so I won't be using it to drink from, but I think it is a great looking piece as a collectible.

My new scallop yunomi from the TC TA SO #4 is not as colorful as that Majolica pot, but it has a subtle glow that I adore

Image

I especially like the interior--it was a shot of the interior that made me pick this one over the others--and in person it is just as richly variable as in the original photo.

Depending on the light, it can be highly reflective

or softly glowing

I also picked up a turquoise oribe tea cup with the same order, and this little cup is my favorite shape and, at a capacity of about 4 ounces (120 mL), it's one that will get a lot of use.

I like the color variations in the glaze

and even the base is pretty with a little maroon highlighting the little spiral inside the foot

Exceptional "Bill's turquoise", debunix. I have one of the same shape and size that I love and use A LOT but yours may actually give it a run for its money. I haven't seen many of those turn out so bright on the top and on the inside. Really nice.
Don't you just love the cup's glassy feel on the outside as well?

Mine has one little patch of not-quite-glassy smooth surface where something is a little rougher just for contrast. I'd been enjoying the look of the turquoise pieces for a while, but this one had the size and shape that I prefer, plus the very nice streaks of purple on it.
