Great little cup their Ian. May seem like an odd request but what I love about my Karatsu piece the most, is the clay it is made out of. So is it possible for you to snap a photo of the underside of the foot?

sure thing! heres what the potter says of the clay and glaze:

" thrown with collected clay from the Kishidake region of Saga prefecture and fired in my wood kiln for 30 hours. The brown glaze is a combination of iron and ash, and the white is rice straw ash."

Very similar clay appearance, although mine might be a little more broken up and sandy looking. The weirdest thing is unlike hagi it feels incredibly hard, but its wonderful to feel.

In Japanese the character of the clay body is called "tsuchiaji". Literal translation is "clay taste".

Earlier today I scouted out his work after reading his name here. Wowza, nice stuff. Yes, a TC SO would be lovely!*

*smacks hand on head, realizing vow to never buy anymore teaware after opening third marvelous package in a month is already breaking down....

After my shiboridashi and yuzamashi from the TC TA SO met a shattering fate, I asked Petr if he could make me a replacement. It took a while for him to be able to get similar clay. Yesterday I got my package. I'm a little too congested to be sure it is enhancing all the high notes of the green tea with which I'm baptizing this set, but what I can taste is entirely delicious. Much happiness!
