A Shino Woodfired Teabowl, from an artist on Etsy. I have asked him to come and join us as one of the Teaware Artisans here on Teachat. He told me he is planning on it, so hopefully we will see a lot more of his works soon.

Instantly wanted it!

Seems everyone got them from Toru at AN so I sent an email just in case he had any left (wasn't feeling very hopeful as most of the posts were from 2010).............But he had a few left in his shop! so I bought one and its getting shipped tomorrow!.

The above pic is one Toru took today. Will get a pic up of my own once it arrives.

I guess it's time to show off the small family of pieces that I have. Apologies for the quality, but when I saw them in the morning light, I had to snap a quick shot with my phone!

Image

In the bottom right is my dear cha he by Xu Dejia, in the center a quite large houhin by Kazuyuki Ohga, to the left of that my sea cuc guinomi by Seigan (my first hagi) and last, but definitely not least, my dear Eiichi yunomi which is my personal favorite due to the amazing texture and subtle mottling across the surface.

We're a small family, but hope to be growing in variety very soon!

Beaker at first glance I thought the Hohin and the Eiichi Yunomi were part of a set. Maybe it is the lighting or the fact that the Eiichi is more in the background, but I thought the Eiichi Yunomi was just a very tall sided yazumashi.

The Eiichi yunomi is definitely large, and as some have said, very well suited for a nodate chawan or just drinking the occasional non-tea beverage since it can hold 300 mL quite easily.

While the picture doesn't illustrate the differences well, the houhin has a pink mottling (youhen?) and gray underglaze while the yunomi has more of a tan/almost orange hue, with darker orange and grey mottling. I will take a picture of the two side-by-side, but the differences in textures and the complimentary appearances, make them a really great pair to use!

This fantastic little cup is from Chris Chaney, Chicagopotter. It's subtle with earth tones one one face, and gray with delicate green highlights on the other.

Image

I love the gray side, where the glaze thickens into little glittery strands of green, that merges to circle the base

Image

and there is also a delicate little green on the inner lip that is quite lovely

Bryan and I visited the pottery heaven of Seagrove, NC - approximately 30 minutes from me. Some pictures will be posted as links as they are above 640px, and I have no software to resize them. We each purchased a cup for sencha from Old Gap Pottery:

And Bryan had picked up a gorgeous little cup for gongfucha from an establishment called Michele Hastings/Jeff Brown pottery:

I'm very, very late in showing these off--I actually got them last summer. But I *finally* managed to get good pictures of these cups, and I thought I'd share. They're by Hong Seong-il, courtesy of Tead Off.

I call them my 'moon cups', for obvious reasons ... They're perennial favorites of mine. :)
