New (sort of) Kyusu from Touju. It is clay, but whimsically mimics tetsubin complete with "hobnail." Great, functional kyusu. Some artisans focus on function, some on form, Touju does a great balancing act with form and function.

I recently picked this teapot up. I love the (for lack of a better term) Layered crackle glaze. From what little I can find on it, it seems the glaze is called "ice cracked glaze." It came with six matching cups.

Let me know if you want more pictures.

Neat, Jspigs! The style reminds me of some celadon cups that I have that were called 'turtle shell' (not sure if that's an official term or not) -- but I've only seen that type in the typical celadon green and not this tan or beige color. Very nice!

Here's my Gyo set made by Shimizu Ken from Hojo
Gah, sooo jealous. Does it really affect the water that much?

I've been scouting several online sources for just the right Bizen cup for quite a while. I wanted one that looked like flame played directly over it. One one site I kept finding myself drawn to the same cup, disappointed over and over to find that it was already sold. And then this beauty popped up on Mago's eBay store

And even in the shade, it is subtly iridescent

and it feels great in my hand. It's an amazing cup. Now I just have to make some room for it on the cup shelf.

Really makes me consider looking into Bizen... But I am going to do my best and not order any new teaware until after my Anagama Class fires their work. (I do have a yixing on the way though :D ). I am actually working on making a Ceramic Tea Tray that will be wood fired. I hope it turns out decent.

This picture doesn't even come close to doing it justice, but wanted to share anyway ... (besides, if I waited for a nice sunny day to shoot pictures in the Pacific NW, I'd never take any at all!)

This was an 'instant love' piece for me--the minute I saw it, I was enthralled. The contrast between the shino glaze and the rough bark surface was just amazing, and I couldn't resist--out of a spectacular firing, this is the piece I loved the best. Stoneware teapot by Petr Novak, with an interior shino glaze--this picture really doesn't do the combination justice. The clay body has an almost coppery sheen to it, and the glaze is not only crackling, but darkening a little too, almost like the color of the tea/clay underneath it is seeping through. I've only had it for a few weeks, and it's already a real favorite--thank you, Petr!

Went Daiso (Japan 100yen shop) today and picked up these cups. I think they make nice inexpensive teaware for starters like me :)

I think the sakura dish are sake dish, I recall seeing some tea shops in China uses these to serve pu erh right?

Also I'm thinking of finding a cheap white gaiwan and use the cover for the sakura cup. Think it'll make a nice gaiwan set with the sakura dish
