It was a custom order and came from Petr Novák directly.

You can find him in the Teaware Artisans section of Teachat. I also own and use some of his teaware.

I do the same thing sometimes. :) And my little glass pot that lost its lid(curious kitty shoved it off the table) is now a pitcher too.

I had a bamboo tea table that I used at work, but I wanted something different (and I was getting tired of caulking the bamboo -- oh yes, we've had those discussions before), so I ordered a tea boat from Mirka, and a new larger tea pot from Petr.

They are both wonderful additions to the office. The teapot is also a bit larger, around 250mL. This size is perfect to fill a Seigan hagi cup that I use. I have a number of small teapots at work, which are fine for when I'm going to be sitting at the office for a bit and can do multiple brews. This newer, larger teapot is great for going into a meeting with a full cup. Perfect size, and looks beautiful, and wonderful texture!

But that's not all! I went for broke and got a larger tea boat for home. It's actually quite large, and I'm almost pondering switching the two boats... not sure yet.

Wow, pretty! Love the larger teapot, too--do you have any closer shots?

This reminds me that I haven't yet taken any 'family' shots of my Petr pots ... I should do that!

Sweet stuff there. I am very happy with my tea boats at home and in one of my offices, and if I could just figure out the logistics of handling one in my primary office--where access to a sink for cleaning teawares is trickier and requires handling the teaware with one hand through multiple locked doors. If I could just figure that out, I'd have an excuse to get another one. They're addictive....and they do set of those other pieces so wonderfully. So nice!

A new/old teacup from Katsuragi's Ebay store, an oilspot glaze with drippy overtones....

More photos later, when I have good light and the good camera.

Hope -- it might be awhile before I get can more photos of the teapot... just a bit tricky with a camera at work, haha.

Deb -- that's a good point. I currently have easy access to a sink, but we're moving in a few months, and I think the galley will be outside of at least one door. The smaller boat may be better at work, then.

Either way, though, they add a wonderful touch to the tea brewing experience. It's also nice about not having to worry about tea leaking through the bottom... :D

Nice cup, deb! That's an unusual combo of styles. Out of curiosity, did katsuragi make any claims on the style? (yes, keeping in mind to take all those comments with a grain of salt :D )

Here's the Ebay listing--still not taken down.

But this is the quick version--Yuteki-Tenmoku (oilspot glaze) bowl by Rokuro Watanabe.

Swirly and swoopy and marvelous cup, indeed.

I had some fun with my Watanabe chawan today...

I tried to take some action shots with the last session of my Aoi sencha from O-Cha, but the light and jury-rigged tripod would not cooperate to show off how the oilspot glaze shimmers through the tea.

Hey thanks! It was indeed made in Mashiko, but I believe the potter got the shape from Okinawa.
