Quiet for a long time....
You say you like your Hagi rugged, the clay coarse, but the glaze delicate?
Check out this wild Hagi from Mago on Ebay, a Deishi....

Isn't Seto and Karatsu two distinct places? Not even very close together. What does it mean Setokaratsu?

Nice one Peacock.
I have been watching the 3 Y's of Tokoname for quite a while. Some examples of their work ...
Yohei ... an yohen example for 681 USD plus shipping
http://www.artisticnippon.com/product/t ... ake34.html
Yokei ... cheaper at 23K JY
http://www.tokoname.or.jp/teapot/maker_ ... kei025.htm
Yoshiki has been putting out some really nice works! I have wanted to score a hammered yohen such as this one for years.

Ah....looking at the full profile page, I see Yoshiki is also the maker of this sleek lovely set that I've admired quite often.
No idea what to recommend on the yixing pots, but I would love to be choosing between several of these tokoname pots....

Or basically any piece with similar characteristics by Kaneta Masanao. I love it when the white glaze turns a bit pinkish in the firing.

Not my teaware.....but I wish it were....
Where does that beauty reside, and does it have relatives for sale?

Kaneta Masanao works are in general stunning. And usually so over budget ...
Re: Not my teaware.....but I wish it were....
Sorry I forgot the shop link. That particular one is sold, and no I did not buy it as his Chawans tend to cost a whole semesters pay for me.debunix wrote:Where does that beauty reside, and does it have relatives for sale?

Everything on that site by Masanao was sold, but e-bay gave a more reasonable estimate of the prices (!) ......but gorgeous stuff, and all the safer for ogling and coveting when the prices are just beyond reach.....it's that semi-affordable stuff that causes all the trouble!

Safest of all for TAD-fueled ogling, of course, is the 'already sold' item:
