An unusual and beautiful little cup from Shawn of Greenwood Studios caught my eye this morning....the combination of the variable earth tones of the exterior, the irregular textural surfaces, and the smooth pool of emerald in the bottom of the cup is quite wonderful.

saw this one on Google img, its a vintage pot produced by a company that went under a long time ago. needless to say, its not easy to find one for sale; I've found one or two but they are always damaged.

The bafang and shifang chahu are amazing. Though it is kind of odd to see a 10-sided Chinese... anything. The 8-sided one looks more familiar :P

Anyone here follow the work of Tom Coleman? I came across his work in the LeFave gallery in Zion Ntl. Park. Amazing tea bowls with wonderful glazes and shapes! I also encountered Marc Matsui's work and was awed by his skill with glazes...unbelievable glaze work!

Not my teaware.....but I wish it were....

Lovely stuff. The green plate at that 2nd link featuring a frog amidst a bunch of leaves is subtly gorgeous in a different way than the trip of beautiful chawans.

You clearly will pine away and die for lack of it. Isn't that reason enough?

I have long admired the 3 Y's of Tokoname artisans. Yoshiki, Yohei, and Yokei. Sadly I own none.

Impressive new wood-fired Yohei that speaks to me from who else, http://www.artisticnippon.com/product/t ... ake38.html

Fortunately the size is a bit big for me right now, because the price is currently not in my range.

Love the texture of the finish, but the shape doesn't speak to me that same way--I'm usually more partial to the flatter ones--another thing that helps with the budget.

Awww, I like the (squat) egg shape which goes well with the "spotting." Of the group of new Yohei, I picked this as my fave instantly and hands down.

Chip,

There is something very unique about that pot. It has an earthy and warm quality and the shape appears as though it would brew some really good tea. I enjoy its rotund shape. The filter makes it useful for many teas.
I also enjoy the speckling in the clay/finish; it reminds of the different granite we have here in the Sierra Nevada.
