Just like mine....
I keep a large matched group of the smaller gaiwans for tastings, and general use, and have a few of the tiny cups as well.

They stack neatly, lids in one, saucers another, and bowls in another. At $3.99 each, it was easy to collect a set for comparative tastings.
Re: Official Show Off Your Gaiwan Topic, Gaiwanesques welcome!
That's a steal for LA: mine was around $3.20 and the cups were $1.10 a piece, and I'm only a few hours drive from Guangdong Province, where I believe these were made. I think they are Chiuchow, but I could be wrong.

Official Show Off Your Gaiwan Topic, Gaiwanesques welcome!
I think they were 2.99 apiece when I got the first one.

Time for an update
Been busy, but was able to snap some photos and do some quick editing.
I acquired these first three separately, all over the past few months.
The seller of this first one claims he got it from an estate sale. From what I gather, it's the older style, but who really knows I guess.
It's walls are slightly thicker, and the lid fits snugly deep in the bowl. That chop is difficult to read.
Here's a higher contrast, larger file to view. Anyone able to make it out?

And here's the base. Link to more detailed, contrasted image below.

And the guts. Love the blemishes on the base above and the inside.

Second up is one that has the similar "export style" as one of the ones I posted previously. However, it seems much more delicate, thin, and old compared to that one.
It has its blemishes, but I like it regardless (particularly since my wife found it for my birthday this year).
I haven't looked up the chop yet. Anyone have any ideas?
The base has "CHINA" stamped into it in a magenta sort of color.

Number 3 ... this gaiwan is very different from what I usually seek after. It is not old (not sure how new it is though). I bought it for next to nothing, and it seemed unique enough for me to get it. I don't see myself using it too often to be honest, and I could see myself gifting it to a friend.
This came in a red box with black text on it (which I can't seem to find at the moment). Anyone have any information on this one? Chop info?

And lastly, I bought two of these.
I've been looking for a small, practical gaiwan for some time now. I narrowed it down to a small 50ml gaiwan I found on eBay, and this one ... Stephane's qingbai mini gaiwan (around 60ml). I ended up getting two so I can brew close, simultaneous comparisons. I'm quite happy with the results this little gaiwan produces, and I would definitely recommend it.
P.S. That chop could easily be upside down or sideways ... have no idea when it comes to reading this stuff, and I'm only sometimes able to recognize similar characters. Thanks for viewing

That's Feng Qing Tang. Its Taiwan company I think. They sell a lot of it on dragon tea house on eBay. The small one you were looking at on eBay may have been FQT as well.

That one looks brand new. I have a gaiwan from the same factory but with a different design. I don't like it very much to be quite honest; I have other gaiwan with thinner walls. The characters on the base say 茶藝品茗 "tasting tea is the art of tea"tst wrote:Number 3 ... this gaiwan is very different from what I usually seek after. It is not old (not sure how new it is though). This says the gaiwan was made during the reign of Qianlong (1735-1796) in the Qing dynasty. I think this is extremely unlikely, I bet more likely it is a replica.tst wrote: I haven't looked up the chop yet. Anyone have any ideas?

I quite like the subtlety of the blue decoration on the third gaiwan.

Little 100ml gaiwan I picked up off eBay. Very light, very nice ping, very thin. Nice size and handles superbly

I am 99% sure I saw this exact same gaiwan when I was in Ten Ren in NY Chinatown before I went to visit MTR. But if I remember correctly, it was very expensive for a simple new gaiwan (certainly over $15.00), just as everything else in there was extremely over priced!tst wrote:Number 3 ... this gaiwan is very different from what I usually seek after.
