Handmade porcelain pots are hard to find. Most of the ones sold as hand made are actually hand painted. Handmade, hand painted, gaiwan are a lot easier to find.

As Debunix has already alluded to, several of our TeaChat TeawareArtisans do not only handmade, but will also custom make porcelain teapots with seemingly endless options.

I guess I should have been more specific. I was talking about the translucent stuff. Not too hard to find gaiwans like this, but teapots are another story.

Jia Zi Ni is special black-dotted Pin Zi Ni used during early-80's in Factory-1.

What I see at the bottom of that page is a 50mL celadon pot listed as #41. That's awfully small for mountain oolong. The others on that page, at 130-150mL, and with subtle and beautiful plant decorations, should be great.

That looks like a soy sauce dispenser.

I don't any of those will work as well as a Gawain or a yixing pot.

by Yi Yong Cheol does a fine job with oolongs of all types.

That looks like a great pot for greens.

It clogs a bit with sencha, but otherwise does well as sole pot in my satellite office, where I have only one small locker to store my goods in between visits. I stuff my tea tray, electric kettle, pot, yuzamashi, hagi, and a few (storage-friendly) teas in the little cube. So it does greens, oolongs, puerhs, and even the occasional white or black tea.

My Yi Yong Cheol pot is very similar to that--same clay and about the same size, with the only difference being mine has a glazed interior--and it is a wonderful pot that handles pretty much any tea I throw at it superbly. I would definitely brew floral oolongs and greens in that without any reservations at all.

I've been hoping that one would go to a good home--wonderful looking pot. I'd throw anything at it the same as I do my porcelain. I don't know about the thickness/heat retention of the buncheong clay pots, but really, I don't worry so much about thickness of clay/heat retention for delicate teas, because I use kettles that control the temperature of the water for me, and I deal with infusion temps that way.
