Re: What do you think of this zhuni pot?
Marshal, how can you tell just by looking at those pictures ( the pot with the squirrels)? No, it's a poor pot.
Could you elaborate further please? I'd be more than grateful.
Thanks.

Re: What do you think of this zhuni pot?
Hi Tim, well I own very few pots and I am a newbie so I couldn't really tell just by looking at those pics?
What do you mean exactly by balanced? Do you mean the proportions of the pot?

By the way, the only thing I can see is not a perfect lid fit and the knob not properly finished. But I couldn't comment on anything else...
Could you elaborate further please?
Thanks!

The overall, balance between the shape, painting and calligraphy. Trying too hard to fit everything in one to duplicate something from the Qing Dynasty court. Like a bad Klimt painting in a post card size printed from a inkjet printer.Maxwell2079 wrote:Hi Tim, well I own very few pots and I am a newbie so I couldn't really tell just by looking at those pics?

Re: What do you think of this zhuni pot?
Thanks again.
It is very hard for a beginner... Hopefully, I will learn how to discern good pots from bad just like you guys do, in the long term future!
But tuition is getting very expensive in the mean time...

Trying very hard to pretend to be old, but it's not, and looks really industrial/plastic, especially the squirrel. The clay.... you can find better for less money.
Re: What do you think of this zhuni pot?
Not too comfortable..we are here to get the pots, not paintings..
Re: What do you think of this zhuni pot?
Speaking of paintings, what's the deal with pots like this one? This seller seems to have a lot of these pots that have this yellow "art" on the sides. It looks like it was done with a tube of epoxy (almost like icing on a cake).
Is this practice common? Any idea if these pots are being done in one studio like this? Or is somebody else taking plain pots and adding art...?
