I have a hard time taking my eyes off the mesmerizing kettle to see the rest of the pieces.

Another gyokuro start to the day, again brewing in the perfect tiny celadon shibo* from Shawn McGuire, and rotating my way through some very small teacups that spend a little more time on the bench than their larger brethren: this time my smallest Petr Novak shino cup

I especially enjoy the transformation of the interior color where the tea reflections begins, earth tones to delicate greens.

Today I discovered that dripsicles can be functional: I was carrying my Petr Novak summer chawan across the room, quite filled with lukewarm Da Yu Ling (brewed hot, concentrated, and diluted over ice-water in the chawan): the dripsicles provided additional stability for my fingers underneath the bowl. Functional as well as enchantingly beautiful.

Sublime!
I'm a big fan of Petr Yaki and I'm saving money to one day buy a beautiful tea boat from Mirka. Thank you for sharing these beauties!

Thanks for the compliments.

I'm still contemplating buying the Hagi yunomi from Yoshikawa-san. In the meantime I'm bidding for a lovely little houhin. Not sure what type of ware it is so I think that's keeping the price down.

I've only got a low max bid so we'll see how it goes. Such a shame that shipping jacks the cost up so much! Fingers are crossed...

That is just a gorgeous kettle... Alas, antique stores in the midwestern United States do not usually hold such treasures. Beautiful setup!

Hi!

Its time for my second post >.<

I had three tea sessions today but have only pitures from two of them.
Me and my friends are new to gongfu cha so we all pitch in with utensils and drink tea together. And the first pic is casual drinking with friend, its his teapot and cups.

The flower kyusu was the begining of my serius quality tea drinking. My employer only offers cheap tea bags at my office and after 5 years I just couldent stand it anymore. Iv bought the pretties and smallest tea pot i could find at that moment and a thermos. Now when im grown up a bit more, I think I got a too big teapot... But my coworkers is still amazed about my teeny tiny teapot :P

And the second pic is casual drinking with friend, its his teapot.

Last night's houjicha brewed in a Tokoname kyusu, drunk from a Hagi yunomi (close ups in the hagi thread):

I really like your hagi and everything thing looks so crisp clean, Im guessing that is a advantage with darker colured teaweare.

Thanks. Perhaps but I'm not sure -- I think most people's stuff looks good in a half decent photo. Funnily enough, it's my best performing kyusu but still my least favourite. I like the shape and feel but it's just a bit boring compared to my others.

Its not fun using a teapot if you dont like it so much.

I have a similar thing. My old huge western teapot has a great pour, keeps the tea warm, great capacity but booring brown. And it never dies, I acidentally droped it ones on the floor and lived! Not even a smallest chip... My boyfriend has broken my other two western teapots, but never my ugly duckling teapot. I´ll probably miss it when it dies...

Serious?! I smashed the lid of my bizen yaki kyusu a month after I bought it. Had to repair it and while it is my favourite kyusu, I can't quite get past the cracks in the lid when I use it...
