This afternoon's tea

A Miyazaki Kamairicha prepared in a Tokoname kyusu from Aichi (brand new--just broke my trusty main kyusu), decanted in a glass chahai, and served in an Arita porcelain cup. The komon-print canister in the background is where I store this particular tea.

Thanks! It was actually a thrift-store find ... it's amazing what's hidden there sometimes.

And the christening of a new Seong-Il pot! 100 ml porcelain pot with unglazed interior, saggar-fired.

Tea: phoenix reserve from New Century Tea Gallery
Cup: jingdezhen hand-painted porcelain, courtesy of Teaswap, as is the copper chataku as well.

This afternoon, enjoying some Zei Shi Dan Cong from Tea Habitat in a small Greenwood Studio cup, brewed in a 50mL 'yixing' teapot, whose polishing has been sadly neglected, but I vow to make up for that now, both cup and pot dwarfed by Petr Novak's yuzamashi.

Thanks, Chip! Sadly, I do not have any pics of my own that show off the chataku by themselves--but I got them in this swap from Ambrose: http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=15490 . His pictures are much better than mine! :D I really do like them--oddly enough, not only do I like the look, but whenever I clink a cup or teapot against the edge, they also make this lovely ringing chime sound. An unexpected bonus!

... ohhh, the swap. Opportunity missed.

Hagi SO Tempest with mystery asamushi brewed in a mysterious Touju Kyusu. Oh, and realllly old "supporting actor" chataku. (I think we need a "best supporting actor" topic for teaware that is never THE star but shines anyway ... been wanting to for a while actually)
