Did not get a chance to snap photos today.

But I brewed in one of these:

Nice. Patina's look great. Are those by chance the famed zen8tea 50 ml pots? Or I guess technically I should say 65 ml pots!

Yes they are the zen8tea pot's. I took those photos to kind of show off how they can build patina. The one on the right I had for the longest, and it has seen quite a bit of use. The one in the middle, had seen next to no use, but it did get boiled in some tea, just to prep it should I ever want to use it ( which I have started doing since). The one on the left I had only had for a month or so before the photo was taken, but it did see some yancha use, and was showing some sign of patina build up.

Awesome. Well keep it up because those patinas look nice, especially the one on the right. I have one of those zen8tea pots too and it does seem a good match for roasted oolongs. I am still trying to find more genuine purple sand Zi Sha pots in the 65-85 ml range because I feel that it's one of the best clays out there if you can find the authentic one with a lot of sand and that very specific light purple hue. Oh well the trials & tribulations of an everyday Kung-Fu Cha drinker right? Lol! Nice post.

Started this Kame Gyokuro from O-Cha last night ... it was still really good so in a rarity I kept green leaves to the next day. So, Kame day two ...

The "shib" set is Korean as is the pitcher which I use as a Yuzamashi. The set holds only 2 ounces making it ideal for solo with a nice gyokuro or sencha ... it is artisan, but I can never remember the artisan's name. Yi Yong Cheol made the pitcher ... it is too bad he has stopped creating as this piece is really nice.

Somehow I think Chip knew that this is a thread that a few members, including myself could really get behind. Actually took out my camera for this shot... Sadly the outside of the Chawan is not staining yet, but the inside has a nice staining going.

Just loved how the light danced in my snowdrifts cup this afternoon, playing in swirls and subtle glows against the wonderful crackling. Drinking some Bai Yun oolong from Norbu.

And a small cup of hot chocolate after the meal, not tea, but with teaware....

This subtle and wonderful cup by shyrabbit often gets pressed into non-tea service this way, because it only holds three or four ounces, and it helps to limit the calories. The shiny metallic finish of the glaze doesn't photograph easily--it's like a hammered iron, semi-glossy, and always changing in different light.

First new tea of the day featured Shibuya Deishi guinomi-s and Koshin Mogake kyusu ... persimmon style that Toru picked up for me. Tenryu in the cups.

My little 90ml Shimizu Ken sourced from Hojo, a small porcelain cup, and a samashi by Kashun sourced from Artistic Nippon.

I am enjoying Hibiki-An, Kuradashi Gyokuro Super Premium during this session.

To start the TeaDay. More Petr-Yaki. Petr custom made the kyusu, in treebark. It is glazed inside. He later added the cups ... same as the kyusu.

Unfortunately I get up too early in the morning for work to really have a nice tea-time ... and I slurp out of a infuser thermos pretty much all day. But I do have nice evening teatimes when I get home! This is tonight's--

Proving once again that I am a sucker for celadon--breaking out a brand new acquisition, a celadon yunomi created by Nathan Bray. Normally I don't go for shapes that are quite so--organic--but the simplicity of the shape and color really appealed to me, and it feels light and lovely in the hand. Tonght's tea is the last of my houjicha mare, brewed by the ever faithful Hong Seong-Il teapot.

Debunix inspired me to break out (and not break) Hagi SO Snowdrifts by Eiichi.

Paired with Kikumare Kyusu that has been a good servant for years ... and shows the years in more ways than one.
