I think it's a decent modern zi ni pot. You didn't get a bargain, but you didn't get ripped off either. For Flushing, that's a pretty decent outcome.

Too true! Incidentally, did you make it by Fang? My dream Taiwanese teapot lives there and could be mine for a mere $5000.

I checked Fang's selection. There is nothing in up to 150ml range. There are few 80's 200ml yixing above $200. A good learning visit though.

As long as we are comparing what we got...

I bought this:

https://www.etsy.com/transaction/117895350

for $21 + $3sh

Etsy isn't exactly a normal place to look for teapots, and I've never seen one with a metal strainer like that. But, it seemed inexpensive enough to take a risk. Worst case it looks nice on my shelf.

I'm assuming this is mass-produced.

Seller says it was only used once or twice. I'm thinking of using it for raw pu-erh.

Good idea?

Well, I'll let you all know how it is when it comes.

I think I'll check out this flushing fellow... if he's in queens I could bike out there. even better.

I wanted to add my goal is to have 3 yixing pots. 1 of which will be "very nice" -- as in I might spend like $100. But, I want to try shopping around a bit. So, the next one I get will be around $40-$70.

Mike, I'm planning to return the bell-shaped teapot, which is still under return/exchange policy, to Kam Man basement. Is there any decent tea that I can get in exchange for the pot? How about Golden Sail pewter tin oolong that you posted here a while ago? or Sea Dyke Brand tea?

Should be a good weekend for it. The New Year parade is on Saturday.

The metal tins (don't think they're pewter) from Goden Sail are worth it just for the container. There's really no tea I know of in the Kam Man basement that's worth anything though, but I haven't tried too many of them, so maybe there's a gem hidden in the rough somewhere.

Hope you have a lot of guests. Drinking 15oz of raw puerh by yourself is gonna suck, even for western style brewing.

This sounds like a TeaChat meetup!

If you're in Flushing you can check out the tea shop in the Flushing mall on the 2nd floor. She has a few yixings including a few Nei Zi Wa Hong made of two clays she says is from the 70s.
