Big hello and a question :)

Postby teafrog » Dec 13th, '13, 11:44

Hello there i'm Achi , new around here:)

I was thinking on buying this rather inexpensive Kyusu from eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Kyusu-Clay-Tea-Pot-Dark-grey-220cc-
pot-/300874462978?pt=Dinnerware_Serving_Dishes&hash=item460d83f702

Do you have any thoughts about it? good ,bad (don't buy cheap teapot on
ebay) etc'.

Hi and welcome! I cant tell you much about buying japanese teaware since I have no experience in it, but buying from ebay isnt bad at all as long as you know what you are getting and arent being duped into paying lots of money for something that isnt worth it. Look for solid and honest info. I cant see the link btw, it just brings me to google

This Kyusu is made in China. Personally, I would buy Japanese Kyusu.

This looks heavy and clunky, plus the seller does not show the screen which is pretty important.

Ditto what Chip said.

The folks at Artistic Nippon have a great selection. Prices range from low (~$35) to much, much higher (~$300+), with many more in the middle. For example, check out the Gyokko "Small" kyuusus.

Shipping won't be free, but you'll have better knowledge about the history of your kyuusu, with great service from a reputable dealer.

Plenty of other places to check, too, I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions -- and maybe some recommendation on filter/screen types, etc, depending on what you're thinking about brewing.

And.... welcome! :D

Artistic Nippon is the place to get a Kyusu for many members. Great, courteous, knowledgeable service!

And great products.
